Vehicle Detail

1969 Honda CT70 Silver Tag 751 original miles and California Title Vin# CT70104668 and engine # CT70E104988 Up for sale is my 1969 Honda CT70 Silver Tag. This rare classic bike has 23 of the roughly 26 known rare unusual parts only indicative to the early production CT70's known as the Silver Tags. Many Silver Tags don't have the same parts due to the date they were manufactured. The earlier the manufacturer date, the more likely the bike would have more of the rare parts increasing the value and the rarity of the overall bike. This bike was produced roughly around the 3rd week of production. All the Silver Tag items on this bike are original to the bike with the exception of the black plastic levers. These levers are reproductions from CHP. Though most of this stuff means nothing to most people, the true enthusiast or collector will love this. 1. Silver Tag on Headtube instead of Black vin tag 2. Black plastic levers ( CHP reproductions ) instead of aluminum 3. Wheels with no bosses and flat spokes on center of rim 4. Front fender with lip on front edge 5. The high beam indicator in the speedometer is red fabric not a plastic lens 6. Engine cradle has square pads where the spark plug guard bolts on 7. Seat has 3 bolts holding the tool carrier on instead of the one piece 8. Taillight wiring goes thru a hole in the frame. 9. Rear brake stabilizer is straight instead of curved 10. Chain guard is held on by Philips head screws instead of bolts 11. Has the black back horn with the screws holding it together instead of 1 piece silver horn 12. Has the Shotgun exhaust with the taper at the end instead of a stub 13. One piece points cover instead of 2 piece points cover 14. Wire guide on frame is silver not black 15. Gas tank bracket is a little shorter 16. Has the large number 8 on the bolts not the small 8 17. Spark plug boot is black with a black NGK logo 18. The head has a diamond and 3 /// on it instead of a number and letter 19. The air canister has the metal boot going into the frame not rubber 20. Has the AT7A carb with the non brass fuel hose connectors 21. Chain guard has crude welds not spot welds like the newer version 22. No battery overflow hole above the rear fender. 23. Thinner handle bar knobs on the triple tree So now about the motorcycle. I will try to do my best to give an accurate and fair description of the motorcycle. Please ask any questions you may have and look at all the pictures I have provided before placing a bid. This bike though very nice does have some of the usual chips, scratches, dings, holes, rips and patina. After all it is 47 years old. First I would like to start off by stating what I believe to have been painted and replaced. The rims look to have been painted and the tires have been replaced. I replaced the black plastic levers, high low beam switch and cable ties on the handlebars with CHP reproduction parts. The foot pegs appear to have been painted but I'm not completely sure. In regard to maintenance. I changed the oil, replaced the fuel lines and spark plug. I cleaned the carb and replaced the 2 fuel screen screws with brass screws due to a leak and their's no more leak. I checked the intake and exhaust valve clearances and adjusted the intake valve to the proper specifications. The bike starts right up usually without the choke, idles fine and does not smoke. The horn , headlight hi/lo, brake and taillight, along with the light and high beam indicator in the speedometer housing all work as intended. The bike drives straight and once warmed up runs and shifts as intended. The bars are in good shape but the left bar is slightly bent. This is minor but best mentioned. The rare shotgun pipe is in great condition with no rusted out spots. All the chrome is very nice and shows well. Their is a couple of small dings on the front fender. The seat is original and in pretty decent condition with the exception of a small rip and some splitting which you can see in the pictures. I thought about replacing the seat cover but I hate taking away from the originality of the bike. I have an extra Silver Tag seat with an aftermarket seat cover on it. I will be happy to switch it out if the purchaser would like. The cables are still in nice condition and pliable. The paint on the frame is in very nice condition with minimal imperfections and fade. The worst part on the paint in on the chain guard. The decals are very nice with some minor imperfections. Though this bike isn't 100% original due to the above mentioned items. Its still a very nice 95% plus original bike with many rare parts. Overall I believe whoever buys this bike will be pleased with it as a rider or just a great addition to a collection. The bike has a California title and was last registered for street use in 2014. If you live in California and choose to drive it on the street you will have to pay the previous 2 years of fees to make it current. Once again please ask any questions look at all the pictures and address any concerns you might have before bidding. Remember a bike can be restored over and over again many times making it nicer then new. It can only be original once. Deposit: $500 non refundable due within 24 hours of end of auction Via Paypal Final Payment: To be made within 7 days of end of auction. Payment: I will accept cash , cashiers check or wire transfer from any major US bank, Paypal if the fees on the remaining balance are paid by the purchaser.
