Vehicle Detail
This is my 179th 190sl that I have owned since 1988 ! This one just came in and was owned by the same gentleman since 1962 !!! In fact he was very sad to see the car go but realized that being in his 80's he no longer had the time or money to fix it up a little more . He had stripped all the paint off the car for a repaint and also had remove the brakes fro a rebuild and then never got around to doing it . When I got the car this week I sanded down all the surface rust that had accumulated on the bare steel fenders - The doors - trunk lid and hood had already had all the paint removed and I left the hood and trunk lid unpainted as you can see. This car retains a lot of the original RARE 1956 early parts on it . such as - very good rear tail light housings and bulb holders ( these today are selling for well over $1000 now and I tell my customer to avoid and 1955- 1957 early basket case cars unless the sellers can provide the tail lights and front turn signals as well since these items will set you back almost $2000 now ! So in this case this car already has them in good condition ! I have around 200 photos of this car - many detailed photos of parts on the car - many of the underside as well - It has a solid frame - only real issue is the need for a driver and passenger front floor replacement - those are only about $115 each ! The fenders are all in good overall shape metal wise - there are some minor issues and the use a a little ( and I mean very little ) filler in one of the rear fender eyebrows - Most of the fenders are all metal - some of which as you will see are dinged and dented - but it is metal and not fiberglass or bondo ! This car will need patch panels in the right and left front fenders where the stone guards go as you will see - Stone guards are included with the car as well as all 4 eyebrow chrome trim and the rear lic lights - trunk star and 190sl emblem as well - I have pictures of all of the parts . this is being sold with a ok original black small hardtop only - It does not include a soft top frame or other soft top items related to it . Is is being sold as a Coupe with removable hardtop . All instruments are in very nice shape - This car has the rare original radio delete plate - There is a nice looking clock in the glove box door - it will need work to run as it does not wind . Seats are originals for the 1956 of this vin # they have been modified for some funky head rests . this car retains the original front floor mats and center tunnel cover in grey - hard to find cars of this year with good ones in them ! Wood parcel panels have nice red replacement carpets installed on top of the original red ones ! Also carpet for the optional jump ( kinder ) seat are included - BTW this car will come with 1/2 of a factory kinder seat as well ! Very clean chrome and dash chrome - nice door panels - all top latches in nice shape - good inside complete mirror - not shown but included is a nice side mirror Engine compartment is detailed and very clean with original Solex carbs - This car has the RARE - on the dash - distributor adjuster for use with poor octane gas in remote countries ! - This option aloud for advancing or retarding the ignition to deal with poor gas ! Heater boxes are original in in very good condition --Hey some of those $200,000 and $300,000 190SL's do not even have original heater boxes on them !!! Horns on the car are the correct OEM original early Bosch horns - matching pair - head light chrome are the correct early ones with BOSCH script - The trunk is in excellent condition with no rust issues at all - in fact the spare tire wheels are solid as well ! in the engine compartment you can see how nice it is - the inner fenders are excellent - no rust issues at all the battery box has been replaced . The original paint tag with code 40 ( BLACK ) is still there - Body number matches tag on the drivers front a pillar - vin number is still readable and tag is nice as well. Original fuel filter is still on the car - Fuel pump is a later replacement - Car retains the original spark plug ends ! Very nice air cleaner - not rotted out on the bottom - again I have many many detailed photos of the parts on this car -- Serious bidders please send me you e m add res s so I can forward the pictures . Engine was rebuilt and only has 17000 miles on it and does run fine ! The brakes are off the car and need rebuilding ( all parts are included with the car ) I will be happy to answer any questions about the car or provide detailed photos as well - just ask -- Thanks and happy bidding ! Trunk also has original mat and spare tire cover as well ! There will be a $2000 deposit upon winning the car with balance of payment within 10 days of close of auction . On Jun-03-16 at 06:10:54 PDT, seller added the following information: Link to over 100 more photos including many up close detailed photos of the car ( ok thanks ebay for not letting me submit the link ! ) email me for the link on photobucket fill in the common start letters //s1096.photobucket.com/user/EUROCARSLLC/library/?view=recent&page=1 See many of the rare correct original parts that came on this car when it was built and are still there ! Good luck finding these parts on the over $180,000 190sl's listed on ebay ! In fact I supply parts for the 190sl to hundreds of customers and many are restoration shops all over the World and can tell you my 1956 190sl has more original parts on it than most of those ones listed out there ! There are currently over 5 190sl's on ebay that I have supplied parts for . I have supplied OEM original good used and new parts since 1988 for the 190sl - This 1956 is my 179th 190sl I have owned ! I am picking up my 180th 190sl within the next month ! But the 180th one has already been sold - Take a look at the pictures for details and if you are considering one of the those $180,000 1955 -1956 190sl's ask them for detailed pictures and see if they have the original parts on them or not ! Good luck bidding On Jun-03-16 at 06:29:24 PDT, seller added the following information: just copy and past this in the url address space in your broser - this will get you to the photos //s1096.photobucket.com/user/EUROCARSLLC/library/?view=recent&page=1 On Jun-04-16 at 05:44:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Sellers: Get your own map today. On Jun-08-16 at 08:26:26 PDT, seller added the following information: I am tossing in a Factory Dealership MERCEDES BENZ- WORKSHOP MANUAL FOR PASSENGER CARS - Volume 1 Model 190 ( which was used for the 190sl along with a smaller 190sl supplement - this is a BIG BOOK ! It weighs in at 5 lbs ! and is almost 3 inches thick ! There is also a Mercedes tool kit from the early 1960's with 4 open end MERCEDES wrenches - a lug wrench - spark plug wrench and a screwdriver as well as a tool bag that will be included with the purchase as well all tools are 100% Mercedes not like some of those tool kits from the UK where they toss in all kinds of tools that have nothing to do with Mercedes and ask over $1000 for them !! Good Luck - These additional items have a value of well over $300 if sold separately
