Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 1982 Honda gl1100 Interstate. The bike was my daily rider for several years and has never left me stranded. The bike was purchased from a car garage here in Marietta non running. The story I got was that it was taken in as partial payment on a repair bill on a car belonging to a professor at Life University. The owner of the garage could not cajole any of his mechanics into working on it.Provenance on the bike ( Title records ) indicates it was passed from father to son to me.The carburetors were initially rebuilt but could not be syncronized due to excessive vacuum leaks around the throttle shafts. I suspect the felt washers between the throttle shafts and the carburetor castings had failed. Replacement felt washers are unobtainable. The carburetors were then replaced with a used set of year correct carburetors. The bike got new spark plugs, exhaust pipe to cylinder head gaskets, exhaust cross tube gasket, battery, coolant, cam belts, final drive oil, fork oil, mirrors, brake fluid, fuel lines, fuel filter, a valve adjustment, and three oil changes while being brought back to road worthy status.About 5 thousand miles ago the tires were replaced with a set of new Bridgestone Spitfires. The main fuse has been replaced with a weather resistant external unit. The bike came with the Hondaline gauges. The bike has been waxed once since I have owned it. Although the bike cleans up nicely, it's not going to win any beauty contests. The bike is a great rider. If you want a pristine Gold Wing polished by the hair of maidens this really isn't the bike for you.All brake pads were replaced about 5,000 miles ago.Bike is currently full of non ethanol marine gas.Currently the bike is full of 20/50 Valvoline motorcycle oil.The forks were rebuilt with new seals and bushings about two years agoThe bike had its radio removed when I bought it. I cut and mounted a plexiglass cover over the opening. The tachometer has been replaced. The old one made a terrible noise. Now the replacement make a terrible noise, but only very intermittently. The handlebars look to be slightly bent, but barely noticeable. The chrome cover on the exhaust header is missing on the right sideOne of the hard bag's latches had to be replaced, so there are two keys to the bikeThe crash bar on the right side has a scratch where the bike went down at very low speed in a parking lot. An idiot ran a stop sign (Saw it coming) and I had to dump it. Fortunately only throttle grip, a crash bar, and my thumb were damaged. There is a small crack in the top box near the hinge on the right side. A very common affliction for these bikes. In spite of being rebuilt some time ago the forks leak air. There is a small split / crack in the seat. I have done my best to show it in the pictures.Bike is sold without any warranties either expressed or implied.I will be more than happy to help your shipper load the bike.A helmet and jacket will be made available for a test ride when bike is picked up.I have clean clear title to this bike in my name and in my grubby little hand. A notarized bill of sale will be provided upon request. If you need more pictures please let me know.I don't accept low ball offers.I DON"T MAKE OFF EBAY DEALS.If have any questions please ask before bidding.Terms of the auction are non negotiable. If you can't pay please don't bid. The bike has now sold twice to non paying bidders. I report non paying bidders.
