Vehicle Detail

Re-Listed due to a NON-Paying Bidder 1980 Dodge Omni 024 with Detomaso Package Please read ALL of the description prior to making assumptions or asking questions that may have been answered. -Thank You- This car was purchased earlier this year as part of a large Shelby Dodge collection. It is recorded as one of the 1,333 such cars produced with the Detomaso package. I just sold a 1981 Omni Detomaso, one of 619, in a separate eBay auction! (only the 1980 Yellow car is in this auction) Check out my other items! I have spent much time researching and tracking down the history of this car as much as possible and have found a few answers. It was last purchased in 2008 by an Indiana collector, but prior ownership is unknown. It is an interesting car either way. When I purchased this car, I was told it was "running" but I have not been able to start the engine. With a fresh battery, the key does not get any response when turned in the ignition. It appears to be an electrical problem, but I will not guarantee anything. Selling As/Is, Where is. NOT RUNNING CURRENTLY Some historical info: "In 1980 and 1981, the Dodge Omni 024 was offered with a sporty, optional trim: the "DeTomaso" package. The equipment list featured black trim and accents, a front air dam, fender flares, rear hatch and side window louvers, rear spoiler, aluminum wheels with 185/70-13 tires, a brushed-alloy look roof band, DeTomaso decals on the bodyside, spoiler, and windshield, bucket seats, special instruments, leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, unique DeTomaso floormats, a dash plaque, and firmer suspension. A four-speed manual transmission was standard, with automatic transmission as an option. For 1980, cars received a 1.7-liter inline four-cylinder engine. In 1981, the DeTomaso cars were built with the new Chrysler 2.2-liter inline four-cylinder engine. This 1980 example is equipped with the manual transmission. Of 1,333 built in 1980, it is believed that very few remain." Today the car shows 53,287 miles on the odometer. Based upon the lack of wear to the trim and interior components, I tend to think the odometer is correct. The interior still has the rare Detomaso color-matched Yellow floor mats and dash emblem. The body is in solid shape with minimal rust and corrosion - especially for the age and era of this Dodge. The front passenger fender has been replaced (appears to be NOS part) and the fender flare molding has gone missing. Also missing is the front air dam. The other rear quarter louvers, rear hatch louvers and stainless "halo" are still attached and were originally part of the Detomaso Package. The pictures also show the spare tire storage area and undercarriage. While showing surface rust from missing paint, these areas do not have any of the typical corrosion associated with a used 35 year old car! This Dodge could be restored or used in conjunction with another car (see my silver Detomaso auction Check out my other items!) It is not possible to know how many of these exist today, but they very rarely surface at shows or for sale. Take advantage of this opportunity and low starting price in the auction. Based upon paperwork, research and observation, I have done my best to describe the car completely. Please ask as many questions as needed prior to bidding and I will respond as quickly as possible.
