1987 Buick Riviera T Type Coupe One of 2,587 T-Types Produced. MSRP price when new: Over $21,000 (not including the lengthy option list) One of 2,587 1987 Riviera T-Types Produced. This era of Riviera had become hard to find and few are seen on the road. This example is known to have been driven very little in the past several years. It was last listed on eBay in September 2012 with one less mile than currently displayed. Due to a noise in the engine (see description) it was (FORMERLY sitting in a collection in New Jersey and) not driven. I purchased the car at auction earlier this year and found that it is actually one of the best examples I have seen in many years. The car starts, runs and drives. The "engine noise" is a rattle sound and believed to be related to the air conditioning compressor - maybe a loose bracket. It seems to settle down when the air is turned off. I cannot and will not guarantee that this is the issue, but pretty sure. The car does run and drive and can be moved easily. However, I have not driven it much due to the rattle. All components appear to function properly, including the RARE touch screen display. The climate control blows, but probably needs an AC recharge. It is also stinky when blowing, from sitting most likely. The interior is very original and in great shape for the age of the car. (28 years!) the multi-function power seats seem to function properly in every direction. Power windows and locks function as well. These are the special order reversible seats that have leather on one side and suede-like material on the other. Of note, the driver door arm rest is ripped and worn. It will need replaced or repaired. Paint and body has held up very well also. The color looks Navy Blue in the sun, but is apparently Black Sapphire Metallic based upon the codes. There does not appear to ever been any collision damage or repair. Paint looks original. I have lightly buffed and waxed the surface, but will need further attention to be brought up to a higher level. There are a few dents and dings, but nothing major. Dunlop tires have minimal wear (less than 5% worn), but are old and starting to crack.
