Vehicle Detail
I have a 1971 El Camino for sale. The car was garage kept for 20 years, during which time it's engine was rebuilt by it's previous (now deceased) owner. (it's a 305, pretty sure it's a pickup motor. Best guess, it's a Chevy c. 1978-1981) The car is presently a daily driver. It just made the trip from Wisconsin to Florida (1400 miles) last month with no complications. Original drum brakes which work great, but you could convert them to disk if you like. (I would recommend Corvette brakes if you're looking for performance) No stock A/C. It's something I hadn't planned on installing, but all fans do work Here's a list of what I have done to the vehicle in the last 2 months (prior to it's 1400 miles trip): Brand new interior 4 brand new tires New shifter (was a 3 in the tree, but the bearings needed changed so the shifter is now on the floor) New clutch Full carb rebuild (Carter Race Carb) Rebuilt distributor All new filters New alternator New radiator New plugs New windshield wipers New belts New fuel pressure regulator (replaced original part. The car likes to run at about 5-6 psi)New fuel pumpNew water pump The car starts and runs beautifully every day. In order to complete the restoration the car could use a paint job, and there are a couple of small spots of surface rust. The spots are detailed in the photos. Wheel arches are clean. Underside in good shape. New floor pans. NO LEAKS in the engine. At all. Starts up strong every time and drives like a dream. Odometer reads around 35,000, but that could be 130K as this model left no space for the "1".The rocker covers say "SUMMIT RACING" The Bad: Hole in one mufflerSlight blowout exhaust header gasket (exhaust manifold) As mentioned, could use paint Tailgate is rusted along it's base. I have a spare with no rust which comes with vehicle and could be installed before it's paint job. The dash is a replacement with a couple of small cracks The car could be an awesome restoration, Father/Kid project, etc. It's a daily driver the way it sits but with some TLC it would be a solid classic car. Body is super clean with no dents. Pick up bed is solid. I really don't want to part with her but I need something with better fuel mileage. We travel 50+ miles a day and just can't afford to run her and restore her. I'm going to miss the attention this car gets. Everyone wants to talk about her. We are located in Fort Myers, FL. Pick up of the vehicle would be the responsibility of the buyer. If you need to organize a courier we are happy to coordinate dates. I require a $500 deposit within 24 hours of auction closing to confirm the sale. If you do not have any eBay feedback I will delete your bid. Good luck and please let me know if you have any questions.
