Vehicle Detail
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu 2 door; I am the second owner, I have owned it since 1991. I have the clean Florida title in hand. I also have found the original build sheet (for those purists out there). Project in process. Engine: Originally a 350 car, it now has a zero mile rebuild from 2011. 406 small block. HEI distributor, dual electric fans with stainless shroud, new 950 cfm carb, headers. 8mm wires. Est 455+ HP. I have over $4000 in the motor. Trans; Zero mile rebuild on original TH350 trans. Shift kit and 2500 stall converter. Rebuilt at same time as the engine. Interior: Great shape on late 80's interior restoration. Could use new carpet, but existing is pretty good. Purchased replacement dashpad. Have a new complete rubber gasket and weatherstripping kit. Headliner is perfect. Bench seats. Body: Has paint stripped getting ready for body work. Surface rust on the entire car. Nothing deep. Small amount of rust in usual places, bottoms of both rear quarters (I have patch panels ready to weld in), a few small holes in bottom of front fenders, and doors. Two spots around rear glass. Around trunk seal (where weatherstripping is attached). Floors and trunk pan are very solid. New goodmark decklid, and used cowl induction hood. New flapper door for cowl induction. I have all stainless trim from driprails to rocker molding, to wheelhouse pieces. Could use polishing. Bumpers are original, look OK, but I would replate or buy replacements. Brakes: Need work. Not safe as they are. I had plans for disc front setup. Currently it is a non-power 4 wheel drum car. Rear: Facory 10 bolt with 2:73 gears Fuel: Currently has a 16 gal fuel cell, but I have a new stainless fuel line kit to change back to a fuel tank setup (no tank currently). Trunk mount battery. Glass: Pretty good shape to be original. It is showing some signs of yellowing in the windshield edges. Now for the fine print. The engine has zero miles on it other than running at initial startup after rebuild. It has not been turned over in about 18 months. I have not tried to crank it. The brakes are not safe to drive it. You will have to trailer it home. You are welcome to come look at it, just send me an email and we can arrange something. I am not parting with this car due to hardship. I do not have to sell it, therefore, please don’t offer me $200 to “take it off my hands”. I have lost intrest in the project, and frankly need the room. If you want a decent platform for a real nice street/race car or restoration, this is the one. It does need some TLC, but for another $5-8k in parts and elbow grease, you can have a $20k ride. I will require a $500 deposit immediately after auction close and payment in full before the vehicle leaves my garage. If you have any questions, or need any additional closeup pics, please email me early enough for me to respond to them before the close of the auction. LOCATED IN JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA. Please take this into consideration when bidding. You will have to make arrangements to pick it up. I am sure I have not covered every little detail, so, please ask questions if you have them.
