Vehicle Detail

For sale 2001 Chrysler Sebring Convertible: Mechanic Special/Perfect DIY Project:The car starts, drives and rides fine -- only 83K miles with a title to prove it. It will only start with the cam sensor unplugged. My mechanic said it would pass safety inspection but it will not pass emissions due to a check engine light (it is currently WV inspected). In Dauphin county PA you cannot get an inspection sticker until a vehicle passes emissions testing, otherwise the car would be inspected now. If you live in a county that does not require emission testing you could drive the car as is right now. The check engine light is for a PO340 code -- cam sensor. If you clear the code the CEL comes on immediately. With cam sensor plugged in the car cranks fine but will not start, if you unplug the cam sensor or unbolt it from the block the car starts and drives fine as runs in safe mode which limits rpms to 3000 or so. We have been driving it back and forth to work for weeks now. From researching and discussing with my mechanic there is most likely the need for a timing chain replacement - $300 -500 at a shop or under $200 in parts if you have some experience. I do not have the time or garage space to take on such a project but this car will be a great winter project for someone. Anyone who knows these 2.7 L motors know the chains wear and timing become off just enough to throw off the cam/crank sensor. It could also be a sensor, a wire or the PCM but that is not my opinion based on my own troubleshooting (I am not a professional mechanic though).Top works great and interior is super clean. Body in excellent and shape, a few clear coat issues here and there. One other notable issue is the ABS light is on, this does not prevent the car from passing safety inspection in PA. This also was inspected by my mechanic and he said the clock spring needs to be replaced and that they run about $100. Email me with any ?'s. Please do not send emails asking "the lowest amount I will take" or asking me how much to ship. Thanks for taking the time to view my auction and good luck!
