Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is this very nice 1971 Chevelle SS big block. This is an actual SS big block car with factory cowl induction. It has a non-matching number, period correct 454 engine. It’s a 1970 LS4 engine. It has an automatic transmission. The car performs well. The engine starts easily and sounds and runs good. The transmission changes smoothly. The car drives well and would be dependable for use on a regular basis if that’s what you wish to do with it. The tires have pretty good tread but bounce a little from sitting a lot. All of the guages work except the tach which isn’t hooked up. It has an aftermarket oil pressure and temperature guage in it and the stock temperature guage works as well. The car is equipped with power steering but not power brakes. Of course there is no AC because in 1971 454 engine cars could not be ordered with AC. The body is very solid. The car has been stored inside for at least the last 25 years that I know of. It was repainted about five years ago. The paint is decent with good gloss but has some defects in it on close inspection. I tried to show these in the pictures. They are a couple very small bubbles, not due to rust, a small crack or two in the paint, and some buffed out runs. The car still shows very well but isn’t perfect. The interior appears all original and looks very good. There is some fading on the carpet. The passenger has about a 2-3 inch place where the vinyl is rubbed off the piping. Otherwise it looks very good with no tears, cracks in the dash or door panels. The headliner is also nice. The glass is all good. The windshield has a little fogging in the upper corners that doesn’t intefere with the vision. The car has the big block hood with the hood pins that only come with the 454 SS. All of the cowl induction is in place and working. The chrome on the car is in very good condition. Here’s a list of equipment found on the SS cars: SS bading on outside and interior door panels, SS instrument pod including round guages with dominant speedo and tach., SS wheels, big block hood with latch pins, AC delete, 12 bolt rear end, 454 tach. Redlined at 5500 rpm, remote mirrors and glove box light, blacked out grille with bright center and outside bars, dash knobs with function symbols i.e. lighter, headlights, black painted dash. The bottom of the car is in good shape. It has the typical very minor surface rust on some areas. There are no holes in the frame or rotted places in the frame or suspension. The trunk floor has a few tiny rust through holes but are very minor and appear only where the gas tank is underneath and traps dirt and moisture. The floor pans have one rust through place under the driver’s floor about 3 inches. The trunk and floor pans are original and have never been replaced. I have a clear title to the car. Email me with any questions. The car is for sale locally so the auction might end early. I have way more money in this car than I will ever get out of it so I do not know what I will take for the car. I will not end the auction early and I will not reveal the reserve. Thanks for looking.
