Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is the jewel of my collection. A 1970 Honda CT70 with only 59 original miles! Also all the original sales documents and receipts from the dealer and manufacturer. The vin# is CT70160805 and the engine # is CT70E160621. The bike has a build date of 3-1970. This bike has 2 characteristics of the silver tag model which make it a bit rarer. The black plastic levers and the black backed horn with the screws. This 3 speed model is an unmolested museum quality time capsule and will make any collector extremely happy. The bike will include the following items which are nearly impossible to get with any bike of its age. All the paperwork is in great to excellent condition with some minor yellowing to it do to age. The original owners manual in near perfect condition, the original Application for Title dated July 8th 1970 , The original Motorcycle Service History Warranty Card dated July 8th 1970, The original Standard Motor Vehicle Sales Tax Receipt dated July 8th 1970, the original Sales Receipt for the 2 bikes that were purchased together dated July 8th 1970, The original Manufacturers Statement of Origin To A Motor Vehicle from Honda Motor Company to the selling dealership dated May 22nd 1970. The original Tool Kit in near new condition and 2 original keys. I also have a clear California Certificate of Title in my name so you will not have any problems at the DMV. When I acquired this bike it was 1 0f 2 twin bikes parked in storage under blankets since 1970. Needless to say the bike hadn't been ridden but maybe a handful of times then parked. I had to open up the carb and clean the jets and other orifices and that was it. I was able to use all the original fuel lines and bowl gasket because they were not dried or cracked. I took a battery out of one of my rider bikes and after a few kicks she fired right up. I rode her around maybe a half a mile took the battery back out drained the fuel out of the carb and she has been parked under blankets ever since. I never keep batteries in bikes I do not ride do to the chance of acid leaking. So the bike will not include a battery. Now onto the details of the bike. I have owned about 30 CT70's and sold many to private collectors so I feel I know a bit about them. I will do my very best to describe the bike to the best of my abilities but I am human and subject to error. So please examine all the pictures and ask any questions you might have before bidding. The one and only time I started the bike it fired right up after a few kicks did not smoke and shifted through all the gears as intended. The tires are original Trail Wings in near perfect condition and still very pliable. They still even have all the little nubs on them. The rims are in excellent condition and the number 8 bolts show all the inspection marks on them. All the cables are in excellent condition. The chain still has its inspection mark and it's as clear as can be. The rear brake pedal still has the rubber band on the foot pedal from when it was originally shipped. The paint is in excellent condition with no fading whatsoever their is some very minor chips here and their but they are very minimal and hard to see. The motor is extremely clean but has some small spots on it under the air cleaner on top of the case under the exhaust pipe. I think some gas might have discolored it but thats just my guess. The chrome is in excellent condition with no rust. The pipe and heat shield are in near perfect condition with no rust not even around the packing on the header. The seat has a minor scuff on the side but no tares or cracks and is still soft and pliable. The seat pan is in excellent condition. When a battery is installed all the lights and horn work as intended. The bars are straight. The headlight bucket is in excellent condition with no cracks in it. The decals are all in near perfect condition. Overall I am very critical about my description as I like to be as accurate as possible. Though this bike does have some flaws they are very minor and no more then you would expect from a bike that has only been ridden a few times. I believe you would be hard pressed to find a nicer original example of a CT70. This bike by all means could be a show winner for originals or in a museum. This bike is not cheap and is well worth the investment to the right buyer. I know their's plenty of restored bikes out there. I even own some and they're nicer then new. With that said a bike can only be original 1 time, and a bike in this condition and with all the documentation is a extremely rare find. If you are local to me and would like to see the bike in person prior to bidding please contact me, but please no tire kickers. So if your interested in owning this piece of Honda history please bid, if not thanks for looking.
