1985 Honda Interceptor

I’ve been way too busy with business to ride much the last few years and my wife says I have too many toys so I’m selling a couple of my babies to clear out some space and keep the peace. This first one is my 1985 Honda VF1000R (I am also listing my 1999 Kawasaki ZXR1100 that is pretty amazing, see my other listings for that one). This VF1000R was one of the more exotic sport bikes in the 80’s with its torquey V-4 engine with gear driven camshafts, quick release front wheel, TRAC anti dive front forks, Pro Link rear suspension and carbon fiber reinforced fiberglass bodywork. Now, it’s more of a vintage sport touring bike that is very comfortable on long rides and cruises and passes effortlessly thanks to all that V-4 torque. This one has 20k miles on it and although it is not a show bike, it is in very nice condition, runs and rides great and I get compliments wherever I go with it. Since it’s a solid color now, most folks seem to think it’s some kind of an exotic, vintage European bike. I’m in my 50’s now and this has always been adult ridden and maintained. Here is a list of some of the extras, modifications and updates I’ve done; · Custom Bright Red paint, base / clear coat polished out with no orange peel (tank, bodywork, signals, top case, wind screens) · Powder coated wheels, calipers, bars, mirrors, luggage racks, mufflers, brackets, etc · Custom dual round head lights · Slip on mufflers · K&N air filter · Color matched, modern clear lens turn signals · Color matched tall touring wind screen · Avon sport touring tires with lees than 1k miles on them · Custom fabricated luggage rack and saddlebag supports · Color matched 46 Liter top case with back rest (see pic) · Suzuki Bandit seat and tail section (MUCH more comfortable and looks nicer than the original pieces) · LED tail light · New DID chain less than 500 miles ago · 12 volt accessory receptacle 2 years ago I took it to a local motorcycle shop that specializes in vintage bikes and had the carburetors removed, cleaned, completely rebuilt, re-jetted and synced along with new brakes and a major service including all fluids and plugs. This service alone came to a little over $1900.00. I’m also throwing in my old Eclipse soft luggage (saddle bags, tank bag and rain covers). It’s old but functional (see pic). I don’t use it anymore and it does fit this bike very well. There are also some spare parts that go too (some original parts like the wind screen, etc). As far as flaws go, there is a bubble in the paint on the gas tank (see pic) and a few years back, I had a garage tip over that scuffed the paint a little bit on the lower side of the fairing but it’s been touched up and isn’t very noticeable at all. Again, it’s not a show bike and it is also 29 years old so if you need perfect, this isn’t your bike.
