Vehicle Detail
Offered for sale is a 1956 Packard 400 Hardtop Coupe. This is a California car upon which a restoration was begun in the late 1980's and stalled mid point in the 1990s. The engine was rebuilt, water pump, brake booster, radiator etc were all gone through at that time. It has not been started since. The body was stripped and painted in the original Jamaican Yellow with Dover White. Some rust and body repairs are evident prior to the paint job. The front floors have been repaired due to rust through. The car appears otherwise quite solid. In order to offer the car for sale all of the trim has been 'hung' on the car to ensure completeness. To the best of my knowledge absolutely the only missing parts are the power seat switch and one seat side chrome piece. Most of the interior chrome has been nicely replated. The car requires a complete re-upholstery but all of the original interior is present for patterns including the door panels, kick panels, seat side emblems, robe rails etc. All glass is present and usable. The windshield and side windows are not installed. One wind wing brace is broken but present for repairs. Much new Lynn Steele rubber and misc. is present for re-assembly. The serial number on the engine block does not match the vin number of the car so a substitute non-serial numbered block must have been used during the rebuild. I will carefully pack all of the spare and loose parts for safe shipment. The pushbutton shift, steering column, etc are all present, as are all dash pieces and glove box. This should be a fun project to complete, but please remember that the paint is 20 years old and many components are untested. This is car # 2764 of only 3224 built and is the last real Packard so a rare piece beginning to get a lot of collector attention. Will help with shipping any way I can, car may be seen in Nevada City, CA, further details by calling Chris at (530) 400-0540. Payment by cash, wire transfer or very local cashiers check. Clear California title and non-op status in hand. Happy to help ship overseas. On Mar-01-14 at 09:08:59 PST, seller added the following information: Found the power seat switch!
