Vehicle Detail

This is a superb example of an original unrestored 1971 BMW R75/5. It has been equipped with many of the most desirable period options and modifications including: - Gorgeous Heinrich 8 gal tank in original paint and striping - Hoske mufflers (reproduction original cigar type also included) - Custom alloy top fork yoke - Progressive front fork springs - Works Performance rear shocks - San Jose braced swingarm - H4 headlight - Brown sidestand - Stainless Albert headlight mirrors (original bar mount type also included) - Polished engine cases and valve covers - BMW euro bars - Original tool kit and manual (1972 issue) - Denfield headlight guard - Craven Golden Arrow panniers, Fairline top case, and correct SWB /5 Craven rack Everything works great! In runs down the highway as smooth as glass and handles as good as my featherbed Norton thanks to the suspension mods. Only 19,000 miles so it is just getting broken in! All original paint and striping. Received "Most Desirable BMW Motorcycle" Judges Choice Award, sponsored by Bob's BMW, at the 2010 British and European Classic Motorcycle Day in Olny MD. Here is a link to the write up. http://www.bobsbmw.com/featured-stories-archived.html Here are some disclaimers/disclosures: - It has a current state of MD title and registration. For some reason the make is listed as "WSTR "rather than BMW on the title, which is what the TX title said when I purchased the bike in 2009. The VIN number and everything else is correct, but for full disclosure, I thought that I should mention it. I had no problem registering it in MD so I never got around to getting the make corrected. I do not think that it is a problem in any case.... - Two VERY small dings in the tank due to maladjusted handlebar controls. - Seat cover is original but foam is a replacement from Sargent. - Speedo/Tach rebuilt by North Hollywood Speedometer - I also have a complete period Avonaire fairing with hardware that needs a bit of TLC that I could sell as an extra to the winning bidding if interested. This is one of the finest motorcycles that I have ever owned. I hate to see it go! I think that you would be hard pressed to find a better /5 BMW.
