HOL small 1998 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 NOS/Holley New Product Test Car More Photos Below 1998 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 You might remember this Camaro from the cover story in the May of 1999 Popular Hot Rodding where it received the very first NOS LS1 dry kit and kicked it up to 400HP at the wheels! Since that article, this car has been used as a test bed for nitrous and EFI new product testing. It currently runs with a prototype Holley EFI Dominator ECU controlling the fuel, timing, 90mm LS2 drive-by-wire throttle body, and the 4L60E shift points. The original 80mm intake is also included (no throttle body). It also has NOS components from two kits, 05131NOS Single Fogger kit and 05169NOS 90mm plate kit, although the 90mm NOS plate has been removed. It has a full Hooker exhaust including headers, Y pipe, and Aero Chamber cat back kit. It also has Brembo front brakes with drilled and slotted rotors, the rear brakes are OE. With the exception of the LS2 intake and throttle body the LS1 engine is stock and the 4L60E transmission was replaced with a remanufactured unit a few years ago. Some notes on the current condition. This Camaro has been beat on by NOS and Holley since day one and with all the hard driving and after ingesting MANY pounds of nitrous for its entire life, it definitely shows its age. The car was in an auto accident a few years ago. It suffered damage to the pass door, quarter panel, rear suspension, and rear axle assembly including the left rear brakes (photos of all below). It is currently NOT drivable and will need the rear axle housing assembly replaced along with the panhard rod to frame attachment fixed before it can be drivable. Being a R&D vehicle, it has had many different parts tested on it, therefore, the under hood is a rats nest of wires. It still has the original harness and ECU along with the prototype Holley Dominator EFI ECU and harness. The odometer shows 52K miles but it has not worked since the Holley EFI was installed roughly 2000-3000 miles ago. The SES light is also on due to the Holley EFI running the car. During all the new product testing the factory harness has been cut, spliced, and t-tapped multiple times and may or may not be usable. The interior is in pretty good shape only showing some minor wear on the driver’s seat, a broken retainer on the driver’s window/mirror switch panel, some un-routed wires, and it's missing the panel that covers the underside of the steering column. One of the wheels was damaged in the accident and the car will be sold with the factory spare in its place. Also, the driver’s side door skin is separating from the door frame as seen in the pictures below. It is being sold as-is and in its current state, it is not drivable and will have to be shipped or towed to its new home. This 1998 Camaro Z28 would make a great start for a race car or because of its NOS/Holley history, a good restoration project. Driver's door skin seperating. Thanks for looking and Happy Bidding!!!
