Vehicle Detail
This car is being relisted because the previous high bidder could not come up with the money, even after a patient waiting period. Please do not bid unless you are prepared to follow through with the transaction! THIS IS A NO RESERVE LISTING. This is my 1985 Ford Mustang GT Convertible 5-speed with only 66,620 original miles. This is a totally original, unmolested, survivor car in exactly the same condition as when it was manufactured by Ford. This is very likely the nicest 1985 Mustang GT for sale in the country. This car has just come out of one of the largest collections of vintage Fords in the country. This collection is extremely private and exclusive, and consists of several hundred of the most important and significant Ford models from the 1920s to present. I have made arrangements to buy this car out of this collection and it is a true collector's gem. This car, as one of hundreds, has been stored in an air-conditioned and heated building for the past 22 years, while being driven occasionally and regularly maintained, serviced and exercised by a mechanic who goes through the collection of cars one by one on a full-time basis. This car was acquired by the collection 22 years ago through a local exotic and classic car specialist. This car has the following factory equipment and options:5.0L High Output V8 engine5-speed manual transmissionpower windows and locksoriginal factory Premium AM/FM cassette radioA/C- which has been retrofitted to R134a and works perfectlypower convertible top with boottilt steering wheelfoglights with coverscruise control I also have the original owner's manual with the car as well as a 1st place trophy from when the car was entered into the Rocket City Mustang Club's show in May of 1992 when it took first place. This car comes with the original spare tire and tools plus the original front license plate bracket and plastic covers for the foglights (always on since new except for photos). The only way to describe this car is an original, unmolested museum-quality collector's piece. This is probably the cleanest, finest-quality 1985 Mustang GT for sale in the county. This car carries the original paint, original interior, original convertible top, original exhaust, original 10-hole aluminum wheels, etc. This car has not been modified or altered in any way from stock condition. This car has been stored in a climate controlled facility and never exposed to sun, rain, salt, snow or any elements whatsoever. The car has been driven exactly 690 miles in the past 22 years as part of the R**** collection, but it has never been allowed to just "sit"- it has always been serviced and looked after. This car starts, runs and drives perfectly. It literally looks and drives like a new 1985 vehicle. The car is quiet, powerful, smooth and it handles and drives like a dream. The air conditioning was still holding an R12 charge, but I have had the air conditioning system serviced and retrofitted to R134a. The air conditioning blows cold and works properly. The paint and body are simply gorgeous. The paint is original factory Jalapeno Red paint and it looks outstanding. The convertible top is original and in very good condition. There is no body rust, nor any exterior defects of any significance. The car has never been in any accidents and has never had any paintwork or bodywork. The wheels are the original aluminum-alloy "10-hole" wheels in excellent condition. The tires are Goodyear Eagles with very good tread. The interior is all original and in beautiful shape. You could not hope to find a 1985 interior in better condition. The seats are still firm and comfortable, and the carpets, upholstery and vinyl are excellent. The dashboard is not even slightly cracked. The underside of this car is exactly what you'd expect- superbly clean, pristine and gorgeous. This is a once-in-a-lifetime find. This car was literally pulled out of hiding, and brought out to be enjoyed by the next owner. I cannot imagine you will find a nicer quality example for sale anywhere. This car could go right into a museum. In fact most cars I've seen in museums aren't as nice as this one. The original buck tag is present and a photo is included. The codes on the sticker inside the driver's door are decoded as follows: Build date: May 1985 Exterior Paint Colors: 2R Bright Red/Jalapeno Red DSO: 55- Houston, TX District Sales Office Body: 66B- Convertible VR: W- White Convertible Top Int Trim: PA- (Charcoal Cloth Articulated Sport seats) A/C: 2- Tape/GT Decal colors R: 6- AM/FM Electronic Search Stereo Cassette (Premium) S: blank (no sunroof or T-tops) AX: Z- 3.08 rear end gears (Traction Lok) TR:2PPBB- 5-speed manual transmission To be extraordinarily picky I should mention the rear windows require manual help when going up and down. This car is kept inside my warehouse in Willoughby, OH. You can fly in to Cleveland (CLE) and drive this car home if you wish.
