Please consider this carefully before placing a bid. If you can not do this PLEASE be fair to other bidders and do not place a bid. Here is a 1984 Isuzu Pup diesel pickup truck that could be fixed up to make someone a nice little truck. I bought it with the intention of fixing it up and making it into an efficient driver (I hear that these little trucks can get close to 50 miles to the gallon!!) Unfortunately, I will be towing a good size trailer for most of my trips and although the little Isuzu can tow a little trailer, the one I will be towing is just too big for it. I also have bills to pay and can use the money, so I figure I should probably just sell it to someone and give it a good home where it will be fixed up and used instead of just sitting in my yard. It does need a number of things to be put back on the road and in good shape again. First of all, it does not run. It turns over and sounds like it should start but doesn't. The guy I got it from said he thought it was maybe the fuel or injection pump. I put some diesel in it and then tried to use the priming pump to pump fuel to the engine, but it didn't seem to want to pump any fuel up. I disconnected the fuel line to the primer and tried using it while I held my hand against the end of the fuel line. It was a little difficult to tell, but it didn't feel like it was creating any suction so I don't think it is working right, or maybe just not working well enough to pump fuel up to the main pump. I temporarily hooked up an electric fuel pump in the fuel line and it pumped fuel right up to and out of the little air bleed/overflow valve at the fuel filter. I figured that if it got that far then fuel would be getting to the main fuel pump that would pump it into the injection pump and then it would run. It looks like the primer pump was not a problem since it still will not run. I also figured that the electric pump would push fuel past the main pump if it is not working and into the injection pump. I was told that sometimes if the main fuel pump on a vehicle is not working it can block any fuel from being pumped past it. I don't know what the problem is. I do know that I was told that I can get a good main fuel pump and injection pump for around $250. This would take care of both pumps and would also guarantee fuel gets to the engine. I just don't have the time to fix it when I probably won't be using it very much anyway. As far as the condition of the engine, I was told by the previous owner that the truck was running and was being driven until it was parked one day and would not start, but he didn't say what sort of condition the engine was in when it was being driven. He did say that it smoked some when it was cold. Since I never saw it running, I don't know how much. This could be related to the starting problem. The odometer says the the truck has a little over 241,300 miles on it. It has a 4-speed manual transmission. The glass looks great in it and both the regular brakes and the emergency brakes seem to work well. I took the wheels off to take a look at the brakes and the two front disk brakes look like they are in pretty good shape with a lot of wear left in them. The drums on the back look ok, but one of the shoes on the passenger's side rear brakes is pretty thin and should be replaced soon. The seat is usable, but as you can see in the photos, it is in pretty rough shape. I just put a seat cover on it and figured I would use it as is, but it does need to be fixed to feel right. It also has the usual wear for its age such as cracks in the dash, worn through spots in the floor mat etc.. The white paint looks ok from a distance, but it looks like it was painted on with a roller or brush. As you can see in the photos, the body has some dents and dings in it, the worst being in the driver's side door and in the tailgate. Also, the photos show that it does have some heavy rust and a few holes at the edge of the passengers side floor board. The other floor board on the drivers side looks ok to me. Water must have collected on the one side for some reason. The photos of the frame show how really solid it is. Other than some light surface rust that can be sanded off if you want, the frame looks great with no rust issues at all that I can see! I noticed that it has a California Auto Club sticker on it, so I imagine it spent most of its life in California, which would explain why the frame is so nice. It even has some of its original paint in places! The headliner looks pretty good for a truck this age, but it does need visors and a rear view mirror. Also, the tail gate opens and closes fine from the inside, but is missing its outside latch. The hood is also missing its latch, which is why the hood pins were installed. The hood pins actually hold the hood down much better than the original latch would. Anyway, take a look at the photos and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask and I will do my best to answer them. This little truck would be a great commuter truck that would get good mileage once it is fixed up. I can help the shipper, or new owner load the truck up when they come to get it, but remember, it is not a runner and will need to be winched onto a trailer or towed on a tow dolly for shipment. The truck does have a clear title and I will need a $200 deposit received within 24 hours of the close of the auction. The truck must be paid for and picked up within 2 weeks unless other arrangements are made before the close of the auction. Thanks for viewing this auction!
