PLEASE NOTE: I will need a $200 deposit from the winning bidder received via PayPal within 24 hours of the close of the auction. The truck will need to be paid for and picked up within 2 weeks of the close of the auction unless other arrangements are made before the auction ends. Please consider this before placing a bid. This 1985 Surburban with a newer 6.5 diesel engine has been a really great, dependable truck for me. It has been driven through snow, mud, pulled trailers etc. and it has never let me down. It has managed to pull my trailer on roads that were so slippery I could barely walk and other vehicles had to chain up! I have never owned a 4x4 that did this well. I think there are two things that make this a much better 4x4 than trucks I've owned in the past. The first is that it has a lot of weight with the fully enclosed back instead of an open bed like a regular pickup truck. The second is that it has a locking rear end, not a posi-track limited-slip rear end, but a true Eaton Locker in the rear so both wheels lock up when one starts spinning. The options tag on the glove box shows this as one of the options for this truck. I can only imagine how well it would do if it had all-season traction tires on it! This is a very highly optioned Suburban. Besides the 4X4 option, it has the two tone paint, Eaton Locker, tilt steering, (which is a little loose, not at all dangerous, just worn) power door locks, 4 speed automatic with overdrive, cruise control, full instrumentation (no idiot lights!), air conditioning (it doesn't have a belt on it and I never bothered to test it, but it may work fine, I don't know), A towing package, power windows (all work, although a couple are a bit slow and probably need to be lubricated. The window switch on the right rear door for that door is also missing. The window works fine though when you use the switch on the driver's door to operate it.) tinted glass, etc.. The truck even has the really deluxe option of the rear air conditioning system which includes the unit in the back of the truck which houses multiple vents that allows the air to circulate evenly and completely. It also came with the optional back seat so it could actually seat 9 passengers comfortably! I took some photos of the inside of the Suburban with the back seat out and the second seat folded forward so you can see what a huge open cargo area it has when the seats are either folded down or removed. I also took some photos of the seat in the truck, and also not mounted facing backwards so you can see what great condition it is in. The seat belts are folded in place like it must not have been used much. I never used it myself. The front driver's and passenger's seat are fixed in place, but the two back seats fold forward to make more room, or remove completely leaving a huge open space for transporting whatever you need to haul, including full sheets of plywood etc.... and all completely out of the weather! The middle seat folds independently in two pieces so you can fold a small portion of it down to walk back to sit in the rear seat without disturbing the other passengers sitting in the rest of the seat or moving the whole seat forward. As you can see, the front seat is torn up some on the bottom and back of the drivers side, but the rest of the seat looks good and you can't tell with a seat cover on it. It doesn't feel bad when you are sitting in it either. An especially handy option is the back two "barn doors" in place of a regular tailgate. The doors make it really easy to get large objects in and out of the truck, even things as large as plywood! As you can see in the photos the gasket on the left door needs to be glued back in place and the door button is missing on the right door. I do have the button and some other parts for it in the glove box. The custom wheels were purchased not long before I bought the truck, and I was told cost $800. The engine in this Suburban is a 6.5 crate engine from GM and gets great fuel mileage. This is a factory 6.5 engine (not a rebuild) and was installed in 1998. The owner paid $3000 to GM for the engine and another $1600 to a local shop to convert the truck from the 6.2 to the 6.5 and install the new engine!. I have a big folder full of records of every hose, belt, tires etc.. that were bought for this truck. There are all sorts of other records of new stuff he bought for the vehicle such as glass pack mufflers, etc... I have a few records that note the mileage on the engine at certain times over the years when it was serviced, and I figure the new engine has around 125,000 miles on it. The engine seems to have been well cared for because it starts right up even in cold weather and runs great! The truck does have a few areas that need attention. One of these is a new disk brake rotor and pad for the passenger's side front wheel. The rotor has two pretty deep grooves in it, but I bought a new rotor and pads for it (which will be included with the truck), I just haven't had the time to put them on. It is not dangerous to drive it the way it is, but it should be fixed soon after you get it home. The windshield has some chips and a crack, but nothing within the field of vision and none of them seem to be going anywhere. The tires have tread, but don't have that much wear left on them. In my opinion they are good enough to drive across country on a pretty long trip if you need to, but will need to be replaced before too long. The hood rubs on the windshield cowl and needs to be adjusted. Other than the dents in the passenger's side door and the front driver's side fender, the body is really straight. The front bumper is bent in a bit on the driver's side (that is how the fender got dented) and could either be bent back out or you could just get a new one if you like. It does have 5 new glow plugs, a recent oil change, transmission fluid and filter change, a new fuel filter, and a clear title. Please take a close look at the photos. I tried to take good ones of areas that need work, and if you want anymore photos just let me know and I will do my best to get them for you. As you can see this truck is a little rough in places, but would make a great work truck for a contractor, overnight camping rig in rough off road country, safe transportation for a big family, or fix it up and make it a really cool show truck. If you have any questions just let me know and I will do my best to answer them. Thanks for viewing this auction!
