For auction is a 1997 Land Rover Discovery Camel Trophy Edition. This vehicle is in great condition and has been well maintained by myself since purchasing it. The 4.0 liter engine runs perfectly and I put in a new high amp alternator last summer so no battery problems. Only 300 of these made for the North American market by Land Rover Special Vehicles Division, and I read there are probably less that a hundred left. A unique vehicle that looks great and drives perfect in snow, mud, sand, etc. Same type of vehicle used in the Camel Trophy races in the 80's and 90's. The body is in great shape with no noticeable rust, dents or body work and the paint is in really good shape (some slight fading on roof due to sun). Black paint on hood in great shape (prevents reflection when using roof rack lights). One black stripe missing from front right corner panel - should be an easy fix. I have removed the roof rack and lights in order to get it in my low ceiling garage, but it and all mounting hardware are included (I took a photo of it on driveway). Also has a rear facing light when doing something behind the vehicle. Lights are very bright when turned on (previos owner added a second low watt bulb to each housing to leave on at night for safety - the main beams are Very bright for outdoor offroading at night). Interior in great shape and the carpets are in excellent condition. Some wear on passenger seat but otherwise all seats look just fine. Includes an aftermarket CD player with remote and iPad hook up in glove box. Tailgate speaker box removed but I have it and will include it (along with mounting screws). Tires look very good with all having plenty of tread left on them. Spare tire and cover are in excellent condition. Overall this vehicle is in great condition (interior, exterior, engine) so why am I selling it? Last week as I was going to work the rear drive shaft broke free and punctured a hole in the transmission (see fluid leak under car in photos). I had it towed to my mechanic and it is going to need a new transmission and rear drive shaft, as well as a few wires reconnected that broke free. The engine starts and the car moves, but I would NOT drive this vehicle further than on to a flat bed. So if someone wants to get a transmission/drive shaft (researched on Ebay motors and a used one can be had for a few hundred) they will have a vehicle that really drives and looks great - always attracts attention from people who love to ask about it! Once again, this car starts and engine runs great, but it will need to be towed or put on a flat bed for transportation.
