Vehicle Detail

1956 MGA Now is your chance to purchase a rare piece of English heritage. The MGA is a sports car produced by MG division of the British Motor Corporation from 1955 to 1962. The MGA replaced the older T-type cars and represented a complete styling break from the older vehicles. The car was officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1955. Still one of our most favorite MG designs with those elegant British curves! These fantastic roadsters offer a wonderful open top driving experience and sports car handling all in one! Engine/Drive-train/Mechanical This MGA had a 1489cc engine that produced 68hp but was updated to 72hp. Lockheed hydraulic drum brakes were used on all wheels. The MGA is a rear wheel drive with a 4 speed gearbox. The first test of these automobiles came as it was clocked at 98 mph and went from 0-60 in 16 seconds. Cosmetics This beautiful 1956 MGA roadster comes in Old English White, over beautiful Red Leather interior, Black carpeting, and matching White Stayfast cloth soft top. The Good: This automobile is completely operational and is ready to drive out on the road, starts right up and runs well. Standard drum brakes work well being a non-power assisted system. From driving the brakes and the car do not pull. The clutch feels good as you engage and disengage. Also has had 4 new tires installed. Has a newer low quality paint job done by previous shop. Interior is in relatively good shape with minor wear. The top is still in good condition. Comes with sliding plexi-glass windows (one corner broken), side windows, tire knockout wrench. Comes with several service manuals. The Bad: Standard presswood floor wood, instead of the correct multi-ply floor wood. The steering rack boots need to be replaced. Rear axle rebound straps are broken. The differential is also leaking. All body rubber is worn out. The transmission leaks. Engine may have several very slow oil leaks. Unknown if the car is a number matching automobile, and unknown if the odometer is correct as it is showing 14,000 miles. The Ugly: Rusted and rotted frame. Shipping Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Terms of Sale: With superb fit and finish, and even better driving characteristics, this car will make for a terrific investment to any British car enthusiast! Please feel welcome to call with any questions! Thanks for looking!
