I am selling my above average 1966 230 Sedan because I just do not have time to work on the engine. If you are mechanically inclined or have a rusty car with a good 230 engine then this may be the car for you. I acquired this car from the original owner who went to Germany in 1966 to take delivery. It was his baby. He spent over $10.000 dollars a few years ago to restore the car. He had the car partially taken apart, repainted, all new body rubber seals installed, new windshield installed, and the bumpers re-chromed.  The car was not driven much after that and it suffered some from just sitting for a few years in the garage. I had to redo the brakes and the fuel system. When I first started driving the car the engine smoked a little.  I figured if I drove it, the smoking problem would improve. Just the opposite has happened. The more I drove the car the worse the engine smoked and it soon became embarrassing to drive. So I parked the car six months ago with plans to either look for another engine or fix the original engine. Due to lack of time I have given up my efforts to find a replacement engine. I am hoping it can find a new home with a Mercedes enthusiast who will bring it back to its former glory. To see a complete video description of my car visit you tube. The video will allow you to hear the engine run and see first hand the exhaust smoke. The interior is original Mercedes leather. As you can see in the pictures it does have some tears in it. This is a "cancer free" car.  There is no evidence of rust-out anywhere through the metal which is so common on most 110 chassis. The engine compartment is super clean and detailed. The car will run and drive but should not be driven on the road due to the excessive exhaust smoke.  78 78 78 78 78 78 The following pictures show a little more close up detail of the car's condition.  When the car was repainted a new front windshield was installed along with new front and rear rubber seals. The body is very straight. I can see only two very small flaws in the body that are noticeable.  One is on the hood towards right center. Small 1 inch crack in the paint. Looks like someone tried to close the hood and hit something. One other very small bend in the lower door edge on the drivers side.  Looks like someone snagged the corner on something with trying to close the door. Many of the parts were re-chromed with the car was repainted. The chrome is very nice and bright with no corrosion or pitting. I do have a couple owners books as shown. The car shows very nice and you could be real proud to drive it to any car meet or show once the engine smoking problem is solved.  78 78 78 78 78 78   PLEASE NOTE:  Remember as nice as this 230 is it is 46 years old! It is not a perfect car! Nor is it a show car. Odometer is showing approximately 17,000 plus miles and owner told me it only went around once (i.e., 117,000), but I have no way to prove or verify it. I have tried to describe it as best as I can but there still may be things I missed or am not aware of. This Mercedes is being sold AS IS without any warrantee expressed or implied. It comes with a clean Washington State Title. Winning bidder must pay a $500 deposit via Paypal or bank wire transfer ($10 dollar additional fee) within 24 hours of the close of the auction and the balance by Direct Bank Transfer of Funds within 7 days of close of auction (balance can NOT be paid by PayPal or cashiers/bank check).  Paperwork will be mailed once funds are verified.  Due to recent problems with fraudulent bank checks NO certified or cashiers checks will be accepted. Car must be picked up within 14 days of the close of the auction to avoid additional storage charges.  I can arrange for $20 per week to have the car remain in dry storage if that would be of help give you time to arrange for transport. Buyer is responsible to arrange for and pay for any transportation needed.  I would be more than happy to help meet the driver and load if you should decide to use commercial truck transport.
