1965 LOTUS ELAN Series 2 This 1965 Lotus Elan S2 needs restoration. It features the original Twin Cam engine with the desirable Lotus Weber head. This car was driven regularly until May, 2011. It would be an excellent restoration project. Other features include: Chassis # 26/4593 Good original car 3 owners from new British Racing Green with black interior Original twin cam engine with Weber head Headers Hi-torque starter Spin-on oil filter conversion Runs & drives excellent Stainless steel exhaust system New front brake rotors Some new rear suspension bushings Original wood rim steering wheel Original rubber mats in back Original Lucas headlights All original and complete switches and gauges. Everything works! Complete top assembly Needs complete restoration Odometer reads 71,621, the title reads EXEMPT. We just did a compression check on this Elan this morning, (2/27/12), and the readings were: 185 186 186 179 This car really runs and drives fine. The engine runs strong and smooth with no smoke, good oil pressure and no unusual noises........... On Mar-28-12 at 10:57:05 PDT, seller added the following information: This Elan has had a recent valve job, and it also has been upgraded with the Dave Bean cassette type water pump conversion. This make it much easier to replace the water pump, without having to disassemble the engine! A worthwhile upgrade to the Lotus Twin Cam engine....On Mar-28-12 at 14:11:13 PDT, seller added the following information: I also just learned, from the previous owner, that the head has been uprated to the "Big Valve" specs...... He had recently installed new differential mount bushings.....
