Vehicle Detail

More pictures of the car will be coming in the next few days as I continue to prepare it for this sale. I went ahead and started the listing to give people a chance to see it as soon as possible, and so the auction will end next Sunday night. So, if you're looking for an excellent and outstanding looking 67 Impala Sport Coupe project for a reasonable price, please put it on your watch list and check back for the photo updates I will be adding in the next several days. This is a good looking rolling complete body, with no engine or transmission. 1967 CHEVROLET IMPALA SPORT COUPE FASTBACK which is a very solid and straight car which makes it an excellent candidate for restoration. This 67 Impala fastback is the very desirable original factory Bolero Red, and still has most of the original factory paint on it. I've owned the car since 1990, saving it for restoration, keeping it covered and dry and preserved since the day that I got it. It has some surface rust that I painted over with some rust preventative paint when I first bought the car so the rust would not get worse. More to come. On Mar-11-12 at 20:26:44 PDT, seller added the following information: The floors are solid with no rust holes. The trunk is very good with only about 3 tiny pinholes. You will not have to replace any floor pans anywhere. The frame is solid and straight. The rearend is a 12 bolt, 3:31 ratio, a very strong rearend with a great all-around ratio. It has factory original tinted glass which is in nice condition. The windshield has some wiper marks on the passenger side only, so it's useable, but you'll probably want to put a new one in during the resto. Windows roll up and down fine. The dash pad is not cracked up. The dash is in very good condition. The dash trims have been restored, so that they look like new. That's a bonus since those are usually dented and scratched up badly. The ashtray has been media blasted inside and painted with a silver paint to make it clean and new looking. The aluminum trunk molding and extension trims have been stripped and polished for a new look as well. The tail light housings are in very nice original condition. The bumpers are very straight, clean, fit great, and the chrome doesn't look too bad for a driver. All trims moldings are present on the car. The interior door upholstery panels still look pretty good and would look fine for a nice driver. The headliner is still intact as well. It has the original seat belts and they work. It comes with keys for the doors and ignition, and the key to the glove box. I don't have the trunk lock cylinder. The trunk latch does work and can be opened with a straight blade screwdriver as it is, and the lock cylinder holding clip is also there. You'd only need to buy a trunk lock cylinder with key, which cost $20 or less on eBay. More to come later. On Mar-11-12 at 20:41:22 PDT, seller added the following information: I accidentally wrote "sport couple" in the title instead of "sport coupe". Can't be changed now. Embarrassing...Sorry, about that :-) . NEW PICS ARE BEING ADDED NOW FOR DISPLAY TONIGHT, TUESDAY, 3/13. THEY'LL BE UP IN AN HOUR OR SO. THANKS FOR WATCHING! You will see pics of the front end, which includes restored headlight eyebrow and extension moldings, a restored hood lip molding, and restored grille. So, you're getting alot of high quality, valuable parts along with this great body. In case I didn't say before, this car has factory air. The a/c parts are with the car. There's alot of value for the money with this 67! The fenders are excellent and have no rust holes. The red hood got used on another car, so this gold hood is replacing it. It's a solid hood, but has a small dent in the peak line that would need to be bumped back up straight...an easy fix. There's a pic of it. The right quarter is in good shape. It does have an old repair area that was filled with about 1/8" thick body filler, apparently to straighten some dings, so it would need to be shaped up a bit, but overall a great quarter with a straight body line. I'll get better pics of the right side later. The right door has a dent that could be repaired, but I will also include another door that is straight to replace it with, if so desired. This set of pics mainly shows the front end and the engine compartment, and overall views. More pics of the right side, interior and trunk will be posted tomorrow and probably Thursday. UPDATE: WEDNESDAY, 3/14....MORE PICS WERE ADDED TO A PHOTOBUCKET ALBUM TODAY. THEY ARE OF THE REAR FLOORS AND REAR SEAT AREA. I WILL CONTINUE TO ADD PICS TO THIS ALBUM TOMORROW(THURSDAY) SO CHECK BACK OFTEN. THANKS! http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v159/67SS427/RED%201967%20IMPALA%202%20DOOR%20HARDTOP/On Mar-15-12 at 10:45:20 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE THURSDAY, 3/15...MORE PICS WERE ADDED TO THIS PHOTOBUCKET ALBUM TODAY: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v159/67SS427/RED%201967%20IMPALA%202%20DOOR%20HARDTOP/ . OVERALL THIS IS NOT A RUSTY CAR, BUT THERE ARE A COUPLE OF PLACES THAT WILL NEED SOME MINOR RUST REPAIR. THEY ARE SHOWN IN THESE NEW PICTURES. THERE ARE SOME RUST HOLES AT THE TOP OF THE BACK GLASS AND AT THE RIGHT AND LEFT LOWER CORNERS AT THE BASE OF THE BACK GLASS. THE LOWER AREAS CAN BE PATCHED WITH SHEET METAL PRETTY EASILY. THE UPPER AREA COULD BE REPAIRED WITH SOME SHEET METAL PATCHING TOO, BUT I AM PROVIDING A BETTER REAR ROOF SECTION THAT I CUT FROM ANOTHER FASTBACK TO USE FOR REPAIR PATCHES, WHICH SHOULD MAKE AN EASIER AND MORE ACCURATE REPAIR TO THE UPPER AREAS. IT'S THE BLUE ROOF PIECE OF ROOF THAT YOU SEE LYING ON THE DRIVEWAY IN THE PHOTOS. THERE'S A RUST HOLE ON THE LOWER LEFT REAR WHEEL OPENING CORNER THAT WILL NEED PATCHING TOO, AS SEEN IN THE PHOTO. THERE ARE PICS OF THE TRUNK FLOOR, WHICH HAS SOME SURFACE RUST, AND A COUPLE OF RUST PINHOLES, BUT IS OVERALL A GOOD, SOLID TRUNK FLOOR THAT WON'T NEED ANY PATCH PANS. MORE PICTURES OF THE INTERIOR ARE HERE, AND YOU CAN SEE THAT THE FLOOR PANS HAVE NO RUST HOLES, SO IT WILL NOT NEED ANY FLOOR PANS REPLACED. IT HAS NICE, CLEAN DOOR, QUARTER, AND BACK GLASS. I WILL BE ADDING MORE PHOTOS POSSIBLY TONIGHT(THURSDAY), AND DEFINITELY TOMORROW. PAYMENT DETAILS!: HERE ARE SOME DETAILS ABOUT PAYMENT AND PICKUP OF THE CAR. THE WINNING BIDDER WILL BE REQUIRED TO MAKE A NON-REFUNDABLE PAYPAL PAYMENT OF $500 IMMEDIATELY AFTER WINNING THE AUCTION. THE BALANCE OF THE AMOUNT OF THE PURCHASE IS DUE WITHIN A WEEK FROM THE END OF THE AUCTION, AND CAN BE PAID BY PAYPAL, OR BY CASH IF YOU CAN PICK UP THE CAR WITHIN A WEEK. NO CHECKS OF ANY KIND WILL BE ACCEPTED. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY FOR YOUR WINNING BID WITHIN A WEEK AFTER THE AUCTION, PLEASE DON'T BID. ALSO, PLEASE BE PREPARED TO HAVE THE CAR PICKED UP WITHIN 2 WEEKS FROM THE END OF THE AUCTION. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS OR ABOUT THE CAR, FEEL FREE TO ASK AND I WILL RESPOND PROMPTLY. On Mar-16-12 at 21:12:24 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE FRIDAY, 3/16...MORE PICS WERE ADDED TO THE PHOTOBUCKET ALBUM TODAY. HERE'S THE LINK AGAIN: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v159/67SS427/RED%201967%20IMPALA%202%20DOOR%20HARDTOP/ New photos include the headliner and interior bright aluminum garnish moldings, bottoms of the doors and rocker panels to show that they are solid and not rusted out. Also, the original transmission crossmember is shown and comes with the car, as well as the original driveshaft. Also shown are the air conditioner parts for the engine compartment (the dash a/c and heater parts were never removed, so they are still in place under the dash). You can also see the nice pair of front parking/turn signal lights that comes with the car. The hood hinges are now on the car and hood's been adjusted and is working well. And the car comes with an excellent set of original 67 Impala 14" hubcaps that have brand new NOS center emblems installed, in case you want to go original looking with 14" wheels. I don't have the 14" wheels, so you'd have to get some. The car will come with just some old wheels and tires that hold air. The car rolls and steers easily. That's about all there is to show. So, to summarize....The dark spots around the car are some surface rust areas that I painted with some POR15 back when I first got the car to prevent the rust from getting worse, and it worked. One of the best things about the car is that it's in basically original unmolested condition, so nobody's messed it up. You also get some nicely restored trims...the eyebrow and extension moldings, hood lip, the grille, the aluminum dash trims, and the tail trims...that you wouldn't get with other project type cars. It's got straight bumpers and good factory tinted "Soft Ray" glass. And it's a nice body in one of the best color combos, if you choose to keep it the original colors. It has some small rust holes at the rear lower wheel opening corners as shown in the photos, and need some rust repair around the back glass. Otherwise, the floors have no rust holes, trunk only has a few tiny pinholes, the fenders and doors have no rust, and the rest of the body when stripped down will be solid metal. It has a nice horn ring and horn button. Even though the seat material has some splits in it, it is still comfortable. Plus, unlike most other project cars, it is clean. Hopefully, you have followed along and read through my long description to get the details about the car, and you have clicked on my link to Photobucket to see about 75 more photos. If there's a part of the car you'd still like to see, or have questions about, feel free to contact me and I will respond quickly. I think it's a bargain for an above average, good looking 67 Impala fastback complete rolling and steering body at the starting price, so if you've been wanting a good one, don't miss out. And if you've read all this, you must really want a 67 bad :-) . Thanks! On Mar-17-12 at 11:43:29 PDT, seller added the following information: You will also get a new battery tray, and I've installed an original sideview mirror on the driver's door. On Mar-17-12 at 14:50:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Attention! I've decided to add some closeup pics of the quarter panel wheel openings to the Photobucket album, since I found a couple of rust spots on the left wheel opening lip that you should know about. I am showing both sides of the car. The driver side quarter has a several small rust-through holes around the wheel opening. And I mentioned before, the passenger side had had some old bodywork dent repair on the quarter panel. I peeled off a piece of body filler to show the thickness of the repair which is only about 1/8" to maybe 3/16" thick. So, the dents were pretty shallow. I don't see any rust-through in the repair area. To me, as a restorer, these are minor issues and easy repairs in the scheme of things, but you may not feel the same, so take this info into consideration if you decide to bid. I still consider these to be great quarter panels for a 67 and will look beautiful when restored. I think there are about 92 pics at Photobucket now. This may be the best documented 67 ever to be shown on eBay :-) . I'm swapping some other wheels on it, so I'll be putting up a few more pics of the final product later. Thanks for your attention. Photobucket album link again: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v159/67SS427/RED%201967%20IMPALA%202%20DOOR%20HARDTOP/ On Mar-17-12 at 17:29:03 PDT, seller added the following information: ****OKAY, THIS SHOULD DO IT****. I've put up a few more pics of the car with clean and matching wheels on it (old Pontiac Rally II wheels), which I think gives you even more of an idea of the potential that this car has. I took some long, overall side views. The 67 is so long, I had to stand back about 30 feet to get it all in the frame (If I only had a wide angle lens). You get alot of car and style for the money. The size is really more impressive in person. So, check out these final pics if you like(please ignore my junky backyard...I'm working on it). I suggest using the "slideshow" feature when at Photobucket for the fastest and easiest way to see all the pics in full size. If you have any more questions, I'd be happy to answer them.
