HERE WE HAVE A 1948 PACKARD SEDAN. IT HAS A CLEAR TITLE. VIN NUMBER: 2252 5693. BLACK EXTERIOR/RED INTERIOR. IT HAS STRAIGHT 8 MOTOR W/MANUAL TRANSMISSION (356 MOTOR). BOTH THE MOTOR AND TRANNY SEEM TO BE IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION. IT DOES RUN!! THE BODY IS SOLID W/NO RUST THRU'S,....HOWEVER THE DRIVER DOOR AND THE PASSENGER FRONT FENDER HAS BEEN BANGED-UP (CHECK PIC'S). THERE IS SOME RUST THRU IN THE TRUNK (CHECK PIC'S). THE INTERIOR NEEDS WORK ALSO (CHECK PIC'S). IT DOES NEED THE WINDOW CRANKS, HOOD ORNIMATE AND ETC. YOU CAN USE THE BUMPERS AS IS,....OR YOU CAN REPLACE OR RESTORE AS YOU SEE FIT. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE QUESTIONS,....THEY MAY CONTAIN INFO NOT MENTIONED HERE!!!!...................OK,.....DUE TO THE VOLUME OF QUESTIONS ON THE CAR, I'VE CONTACTED THE PREVIOUS OWNER/CARETAKER. HERE'S SOME HISTORY! THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM A LOCALIZED CITY'S CHURCH,....IT WAS DONATED TO THE CHURCH SEVERAL YEARS AGO. ONE OF THE PASTORS OF THE CHURCH WAS KINDA LIKE THE CARETAKER OF THE CAR. HE SAID HE WAS NO MECHANIC, BUT HE LIKED TO "TINKER" W/THE CAR. IN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS HE'S HAD THE HEAD OFF, AND HAD THE VALVES GROUND. JUST LIGHT "TINKERING". HE'S DRIVEN THE CAR NUMERIOUS TIMES, NOT ON LONG TRIPS, BUT ABOUT TOWN. HE SAID THE ENGINE IS IN GOOD RUNNING CONDITION (WE'RE NOT MECHANIC'S EITHER, BUT WE CAN SEE THAT ALSO). IT DOES'NT LEAK OIL AND THERE'S NO WATER IN THE OIL! NOW,....HE DID SAY EVERY SO OFTEN HE'D HAVE TO ADD SOME WATER/ANTI FREEZE TO THE RADIATOR. HE SAID THERE WAS A "VERY SLO" LEAK AROUND THE DRAIN PLUG, AND AFTER LOOKING ALITTLE MORE CLOSE TODAY, WE OURSELVES NOTICED MAYBE A VERY SLO LEAK FROM THE FREEZE PLUG. THIS DOES'NT SEEM TO BE A SERIOUS ISSUE, AND CERTAINLY NOT AN "INTERNAL" ISSUE!! WE'VE DROVE THE CAR, AND LEFT IT IDLE FOR SOME 45 MINUTES. THE OIL IS WATER/MOISTURE FREE, AND WE'VE NOT HAD TO ADD ANYTHING TO THE RADIATOR. THE ENGINE LOOKS TO BE, AND IS IN GOOD RUNNING CONDITION. THE BATTERY IS WEAK!! IT DOES NEED EXTERIOR/INTERIOR BODY WORK. INTERIOR WISE, THE OVERDRIVE WORKS, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WORK, THE GUAGES WORK,.....THE HORN, AND WIPERS DOES'NT WORK,.....AND I CANT REMEMBER CHECKING ANYTHING ELSE! WE'VE NOW SEEN (AND PIC'S ARE POSTED) AN AREA RIGHT BELOW THE HEAD (UPPER BLOCK) THAT HAS AN OLD REPAIR. IT'S DIFFICULT TO NOTICE AS THE ENGINE WAS REPAINTED (HEAD ORANGE AND THE BLOCK GRAY). AGAIN, I SAY OLD REPAIR, AND AGAIN, THERE SEEMS TO BE NO ISSUE'S W/THIS REPAIR, AND AGAIN, THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ANY "INTERNAL ISSUE'S W/THIS ENGINE",......BUT I WANT ANY INTERESTED PERSON TO BE AWARE OF THIS,....AND THERE'S ALOT OF YA!! ALSO,....I WAS ASKED IN A QUESTION SENT FROM A INTERESTED BUYER ABOUT THE BRAKES AND ABOUT KEYS. THE CAR DOES HAVE WORKING BRAKES!! THE CAR STARTS BY PUTTING A KEY INTO THE IGNITION AND TURNING IT TO THE ON POSITION, THEN PRESSING THE STARTER BUTTON!! HOWEVER,.....I JUST LEARNED THE IGNITION KEY IS BROKE OFF IN THE "STARTING POSITION". SO,....THE BATTERY CABLES HAVE TO BE DISCONNECTED TO AVOID FOULING THE POINTS. TO START THE CAR, CONNECT THE BATTERY CABLES AND PRESS THE BUTTON!! THERE IS NO TRUNK KEY. I WILL FORWARD ALL THIS NEW INFO TO THE GUY WHO'S ALREADY PLACED A BID,....AND GIVE HIM A CHANCE TO CANCEL HIS BID IF HE WANTS TOO!! IF HE DOES'NT,...YOU'LL HAVE TO OUTBID HIM IF YA WANT IT!!
