Vehicle Detail
up for auction is a 1969 chevrolet corvette 427 tri power convertible. monza red with a black interior. the previous owner had owned the car for a number of years and around 1990 sent the car, which was a running driving car to a restoration shop in the northeastern part of the country for a complete restoration. the shop was supposed to be a top notch restoration shop for corvettes. the previous owner also put down several thousands of dollars as a deposit. in the beginning the shop stayed in touch and sent pics of the progress. as time went on which was a couple of years, the pics and commucation stopped. the car had been at the shop for 5 years and the previous owner had tried several times without success to get in touch with the shop or its owner. being concerned with no contact he made the trip up to the shop and you can guess what he found. the shop had closed the doors were locked and could find not find the owner. after a lot of searching, phone calls and legal paperwork he gained access to the shop. what he found would make anyone sick. the car had very little work preformed on it [1 or 2 days of sanding] the complete matching # motor was gone, the front clip was gone. [most likely sold] but the matching # trans and the rest of the parts were at the shop. he had the car and parts transported back to his home in florida and found a complete 427 tri power motor to go back in the car. after the incident he told me he just lost interest in the car and at that time was sold to the present owner now for the specs and condition of the car. it is a real 69 tri power car, monza red with a white convertible top. the body need to be restored, it has a non original clip on the front, the rest of the car is original. foot wells are nice, it needs a left qtr and i have a nos qtr that goes with the car, also included is a nos hood. the inner structure is solid with no rot. the convertible top and frame is all there. the windshield pillars are solid, the frame has only scale rust and no pitting. the original rear end and all the front and rear suspension is still on the car. [it is a rolling car] like stated above the car needs the body restored.i could find no rot in the body tub. front and rear bumpers come with the car. all the original wiring is intact. nothing was cut or ripped out. the engine electrical harness looks good. the wiper motor and wipers are there, the throttle bracket and cable is there. it looks like they just disconnected the wiring harness and removed the engine. all the wiring appears to be the original wiring. the rear body wire harness is intact. the interior is in nice shape to be original. dash is nice with no cracks, door panels are solid and in nice shape. all the factory gauges are still there and have excellent color. the console is good and still has the engine plate attached. the drivers seat is original but the pass is out of another car. all the pedals and the parking brake items are there and orignal to the car.. factory am/fm radio is in the car and looks good. the interior for it age looks good. like stated above the original motor is gone but included is a complete from air cleaner to the oil pan 1968 427 tri power. when he bought the motor it was supposed to be fresh and under the valve cover it looks to be. but i would go thru it just to be sure. date code on the block is A 18 8 or jan 18 of 1968. the casting # is 3963512. the heads are date coded A 22 8 or jan 22 1968 and have a 3919840 casting #. the water pump has a 3972958 casting # intake is correct with a 3937797 casting #. carbs and linkage are correct, motor has the correct pulleys and oil pan. the matching # muncie transmission is all there along with the original shifter and linkage. the original bellhousing is included with the right 621 casting code. i am not sure what rear end ratio the car has but it is the original rear end. the original drive shaft is included also. as far as the off the car parts go i can not be sure what is missing but it appears most of the parts are there. i know the radiator is missing but the fan shroud is included. i did not find a fan. the over flow tank is there along with numerous small parts. like stated above this a real tri power car that needs restored. but when finished will be a nice car, a lot of the hard to find expensive parts are with the car. tha car is located in tampa florida and has a clear florida title. shipping and transport will be up to the buyer. i am listing it for a friend. the car can be inspected if needed. i have tried to describe it as best i can, i will answer all questions and be glad to talk to bidders via a cell phone. i am not a dealer or a broker. contact me via a email thru ebay and i will give any info needed. thanks for looking and good luck On Feb-04-12 at 07:11:13 PST, seller added the following information: i listed the block as a an A 18 8 date code, that is not correct. the block is a A 18 9 block or JAN 18 1969. tha car also has the top and the frame on the car. the top will need replaced and the frame is in good shape.
