Vehicle Detail

Here is a really straight, very nice 1982 Chevy Blazer. The paint is in good shape, and there are no rust issues that I can find. I understand that it came from the Oregon high desert which would explain the lack of any rust and overall clean condition. Even the trim and chrome are very nice with no dents or peeling anywhere that I can see. As a matter of fact, the only dent I found on the whole truck is a very shallow, light crease about 6" long in the center of the passenger's side door where my 5 year old son opened the door and bumped it on a van I own. As you can see, it is a very light crease and is not that noticeable. It would be an easy fix if someone wanted to take the door panel off and push it back out. The glass is also in good condition, and the truck comes with the deluxe tinted and vented canopy. The back tailgate window does roll up and down and works well, but the outside piece of the handle (which is included) needs to be re-attached. I never bothered to fix it because it is easy to roll the window up and down without it. The back glass is solid, but does have some of the usual vertical streaks where dirt and dust have scratched the glass over the years. When I bought it, it came with a salvage title, which I was told was the result of a fender bender which affected on the hood and front fender. Because it was an older vehicle, it was considered totalled. I believe they replaced the hood and fender because I could not find any bondo. No other parts of the vehicle seemed to have been affected. The undercarriage is in excellent condition, and I can't find any signs of damage anywhere on the vehicle (frame or otherwise). This Blazer is loaded with options such as power windows, power door locks, cruise control, power and tilt steering, air conditioning, nice Blaupunkt radio CD player (the front speakers were missing when I bought the truck for some reason, but the Altec Lansing speakers in the back work fine) and miscellaneous other options. The interior is still in very nice condition as well. The passenger's seat and back seat are in very good shape. The driver's seat has some wear, but it is still very solid. Overall it is a very nice interior, especially for a 30 year old truck. The bad part is it needs a new head gasket. The good news is, I was told by the previous owner that the engine had been rebuilt. I'm not sure how long ago that was, (the odometer says 1447 miles, but because it flips over at 99,999 I don't know how many miles are on it) but it ran strong and smooth and didn't smoke so I think the engine was in good shape when it was running and may not have had many miles on it. With a new head gasket, it should be up and running well again. Because I did not run it out of oil or water, it should be fine. Not long before the head gasket blew, I noticed it was using a little water. I noticed some seepage where the top radiator hose meets the radiator so I tightened it up and figured I had fixed it. I drove it to my parents' house and noticed it was still using water, so the next morning I put some special head gasket sealer I bought in the radiator, but it was too late. After following the directions and putting it in the radiator and idling the engine for about 20 minutes, it just got worse with steam starting to come out of the exhaust pipe and some oil seeping out of the side of the head. I realized it was time to turn off the truck and fix the head gasket. I checked the oil while it was running a few minutes before I turned it off and it was fine, but after I turned it off I did see some slight murkiness to the oil so I guess some water did get in the engine, but only for a minute or so and not much. I drained the oil soon afterwards and it didn't look that bad, so again, the engine should be fine. . Unfortunately I've been really busy with work and haven't had a chance to fix it. It also needs a new glow plug solenoid or something, it recently decided to come on and not go off sometimes. I didn't notice this the first time it happened and it burned up all of the glow plugs. So another plus is I just put new glow plugs in it. What I did to remedy the problem is simply disconnect the glow plug solenoid or relay and use a piece of wire to jump from the hot wire to the glow plugs. I would simply open the hood, hold the wire across the circuit (bypassing the relay) for a few seconds, then hop in the truck and start it up. I'm sure it is an easy fix, and like I mentioned earlier I think it probably just needs a new solenoid, but my method worked well and didn't hurt anything by only heating up the glow plugs for a few seconds like the solenoid did, so I never bothered to try to fix it. I would really like to keep the Blazer, but my life has changed and I don't really need it anymore, plus I need the money so I figure it's time to sell it. This is a really nice Blazer with the stock 4-speed automatic with overdrive, and it gets great mileage for a full-size 4-wheel drive truck. The four wheel drive works great. It has terrific low gears for 4-wheeling and an awesome highway gear for cruising. Also, if you don't want the original stock diesel engine, I do have a friend who can use it, and will not only remove it from the truck before it is picked up, but is also offering $50 for it. That way it will be ready for a new engine when you pick it up.if you choose to do this. These diesel Blazers are pretty rare though, and I would rather sell it to someone who will fix the engine and get it back on the road in its stock, numbers matching form. Besides, because they are diesel they get great mileage, which really makes sense in today's economy and fuel prices. Cruising at 55 to 60 on a cross country trip through one of the flat valleys here, not packed up with gear and not pulling a trailer or anything like that, I have been able to get around 24 mpg! Let's see a gas powered full size 4X4 do that! I think the truck is kind of special and to me it just makes sense to keep it a stock diesel. I know I will most likely regret selling it later, especially as I watch fuel prices steadily go up, and they will. By the way, it was running fine when I turned it off and was not making any bad noises of any kind, so I'm sure you could start it up and move it, but I would never take the chance of damaging the engine by doing this. I will assist the buyer in loading it up on a trailer, car hauler, or tow dolly with a winch or tow strap I have available. If you have any questions, just let me know, and I will do my best to answer them for you. It does come with a clear title in my name. I will need a $200 deposit received within 24 hours after the auction closes. The Blazer must be paid for within two weeks and picked up within one month of the close of the auction. Thanks for viewing this listing! It's a little dusty and dirty, but there is no rust that I can find.
