Thank you and good luck. ***** UP FOR AUCTION IS A VERY SHARP LOOKING 1971 DODGE CHALLENGER CONVERTIBLE WITH MATCHING NUMBERS DRIVETRAIN IN FACTORY FC7 PLUM CRAZY METALLIC COLOR! VERY SHARP CRUISER THAT WILL BE A LOT OF FUN FOR COLLECTOR OR ENTHUSIAST. Factory Options: 1) Power steering 2) Manual drum brakes 3) Single exhaust 4) Standard black bucket seat interior with Console floor shift 5) Matching numbers 318ci V8 motor 6) Automatic transmission on the floor 7) Flat hood 8) 14" Mopar rally wheels with BF Goodrich radials 9) Body side moldings 10) Luggage rack 11) Pop open gas cap 12) Deluxe steering wheel 13) AM radio The car comes from dry Arizona where it has been collector owned and maintained, previous to that being owned in Ohio in the 1990s. Previous owner purchased the vehicle a few years ago and it had an older aesthetic refurbishing done to the body, interior and top from what it looks like. Right now it is a good looking driver in factory FC7 Plum Crazy Metallic Purple, which is pretty neat. Pretty much all stock with no alterations I was able to see. Retains its original fender tag as well. Has been well cared for and enjoyed throughout. Previous owner recently installed a new gas tank in it and cleaned out the lines. Interior is in VERY GOOD condition with minor general wear here and there. Seats in very good shape. Door panels are excellent. Steering wheel is good. Carpet worn but presentable. Dash pad like new. Convertible top is excellent with factory glass rear window (showing some wear around the edges of the rear window). Overall a nicely presentable driver quality interior! Under the hood lies a completely stock 318ci V8 motor with no modifications at all that I was able to notice. Starts right up and runs good with decent power. Brakes are very nice and car stops well. Steering is nice and light without too much if any play in the wheel. A bit cold natured when first started but when it warms up it drives fine. Transmission shifts good. No noises coming from the rear end. The only mechanical issue i've noticed is that the water pump is starting to leak (I have a brand new replacement included) and the carburetor is a bit temperamental and should be rebuilt. Other than that it is a good driver that wouldn't take much to be a daily cruiser. I've mostly driven it around town, a couple of times on the highway to make sure transmission shifts and motor is good. Underside looks in pretty decent shape for a 40+ year old car. Floorboards are in above average shape for a mopar and I didn't find any holes in them. Some small issues with the battery tray area that has a hole, rear rail extensions right near the rear bumper that are getting soft and some rust in the doghouse, but nothing that isn't manageable. Overall in fairly good shape underneath with a decent trunk that has had some patch work in the past only noticed when gas tank was dropped. Being a nearly 40 year old car it is NOT perfect by any means. Paint shines up FAIRLY for a DECENT driver with presentable shine. Could use minor wetsanding, otherwise pretty clean overall with some minor imperfections here and there like small scratches, couple of chips and the like. Missing: spare/jack. Not working: radio, horn, could use a couple of bulbs replaced here and there where needed. Upper and lower ball joints should be replaced down the road. That's about all I was able to notice from my inspection. I am sure there are other tiny details i've forgotten so please keep that in mind, this is NOT a brand new car obviously. OVERALL IT'S A GREAT EYE CATCHING AND PRETTY RARE 1971 DODGE CHALLENGER CONVERTIBLE IN FC7 PLUM CRAZY METALLIC PURPLE, THAT IS BASICALLY UNMOLESTED FOR THE MOST PART AND COULD EASILY BE A DAILY DRIVER WITH VERY MINOR TLC. GREAT CAR TO DRIVE WITH A LITTLE ELBOW GREASE OR RESTORE TO SHOWROOM CONDITION AS THEY ARE GETTING PRETTY SCARCE NOWADAYS!. Contact me at (917) 749-4302cell or e-mail CLASSICS411@AOL.COM. Auction may be stopped at any time.
