Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1918 FORD Model T NO RESERVE I have for sale my 1918 Model T pick up truck. I have had this truck for about 2 years and it has been fun…..always wanted to drive one of these after hearing stories from my Mom that she learned to drive on a Model T. I purchased this truck from an old time family from Santa Ana CA and the grandson said it had been in their family since new. The grandfather drove it fairly regularly and it appears to be well taken care of. When I purchased it in 2009 I had my antique car mechanic go over it and bring it up to speed. He flushed the radiator and put new rubber hoses on. He also got all of the coils working. He put in a new Kevlar drive belt and has adjusted it twice. He also checked the brakes (rear only) and the Ruxtel 2 speed rear end…working fine! He put a NEW Optima 6 volt battery in also…..about $600.00 worth of repairs. It ran and drove pretty well…for a 93 year old vehicle. I drove it on weekends up till January of this year and then drove it to my portable garage storage unit. To my knowledge this truck has always been garaged and shows it. I tried to start it and the battery is discharged. It also needs to be cleaned up and dusted off. The body has been painted sometime in it life a dark metallic blue and the fenders appear to be the original black. There are scratches and paint chip loss…..so this is not a show car but a fun driver. You will need to charge the battery before you can drive this vehicle so I suggest you bring a trailer when you pick it up. The top is in good usable condition as well as the upholstery. (needs to have the NEW hold down straps (included parts) installed) The gas tank is clean. The tires are older….I would guess about 7-10 years but hold air well and I felt safe driving it around town. There is no spare. The body is in good condition and I cannot find any rust anywhere. There is some oxidation on the steering wheel controls center piece as shown in the photos. Through my research I think this started out as a turtle deck roadster and somewhere along the way the pick-up wood bed was put on professionally. This was popular even in the 1930’s. This vehicle also has a set of side curtains and a expandable luggage rack included. It has a speedometer that works as well as an ammeter gauge. Because the vehicle is 93 years old it is being sold where is and as is ……with no warranties expressed or implied. I will require a $500.00 non refundable deposit by Pay Pal within 24 hours of the listing end…..and the balance in 5 days after the auction end by Cash or Certified cashiers check. This vehicle will not be released until the funds clear my bank. It will need to be picked up in 2 weeks or less after the end of the auction. We are more than happy to assist in the loading of the vehicle if it requires shipping……sorry no international sales on this item. The vehicle is located in San Juan Capistrano CA and I will show the vehicle by appointment. BEFORE you bid, please make sure if you are the winner please have your finances ready to pay.NOTE: At the end of the auction I will take the vehicle to my mechanic and he will charge the battery and go over the vehicle to make sure it is in good running condition. I will also have the vehicle cleaned and detailed. If you have questions I am more than happy to answer them by email or phone 949 492-8702 Monday through Friday 8:00Am to 4:00 PM Pacific time, This car has a clear California Title in my name and is insured and licensed. I also have a very nice pair of 1918 DMV clear California Porcelain plates that can be purchased separately if the buyer wants them. Note: This vehicle has an electric starter with a foot operated switch.
