THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION!!! As much as it pains me to part with this beauty, bills force me to sell off some of my collection. This was ALMOST a barn find (actually I found it languishing on the side of a guy’s garage several years ago). Here’s what you’ll be bidding on: a 1975 (according to the vin, title and Honda ID guide this is 1975 but the gas tank appears to be from a 1976 model) cult classic Honda CB400F. This is the first production bike to come with a 4-into-1 factory exhaust system, six speed transmission and front disc brake! I got this from the original owner and it was first sold in 1977 . This comes with a CLEAN California title and current registration (cost me a fortune) and shows 9,729 miles on the odometer. This bike starts right up, with either the electric OR the kick start. In typical Honda fashion of the era, it is a little cold blooded, but once warmed up, runs and shifts VERY well. It has had the following service performed on it: valves adjusted, carbs completely rebuilt (not synchronized - that would probably improve the “snap” even more), points and timing set, new spark plugs, new battery and starter solenoid, oil changed, and a new front tire. Mechanically, brakes work very well, clutch is excellent, gearbox shifts fine all through the gears, all instruments work, and the chain has plenty of life left. Electrically, ALL switches and lights work, even the turn signal flasher! Cosmetically, there is some minor wear and tear, as to be expected. The gas tank is all original, has one or two very minor dents and some paint touch up(see photos) but is amazingly clean and rust free inside. The exhaust header collector is stock, the muffler is not. The seat cover is a little hard (maybe some conditioner?) but not torn or ripped at all. There are one or two scratches on the turn signals, and the previous owner had a male dog, so the rear rim chrome is not perfect (no rust, but some tarnishing of the chrome that I couldn’t polish out). The rear tire has decent tread, but should probably be replaced in the near future (a little hard). On the plus side, this bike is a runner with some extras: Fiamm dual horns and Koni rear shocks! The engine is oil tight and drip free. It is all complete, including tool kit under the seat! Ride it and GO! The only downsides I see are the left front fork seal is starting to leak a bit, there appears to be a slight exhaust leak sound (may need new gaskets, or just a tightening), chainguard is missing, and the camchain adjustment bolt appears broken off (perhaps it can be EZ-outed and replaced, I didn’t have time and it runs fine). This bike was a giant killer in its day at the track, here is a chance for you to OWN HISTORY! It has only been ridden about 15 minutes since the tuneup and it’s time for someone else to enjoy it. We try to accurately describe the shortcomings, but look at the photos and ask questions before bidding. Don’t bid if you intend to negotiate afterward; that is not how eBay works. This is a vintage, 36 year old motorcycle. It is not perfect, not museum quality and is being sold as is. I will provide Calif. Title and a Bill of Sale. There aren’t a lot of these around anymore, so don’t miss your chance to own one! SHIPPING: Buyers to pay and arrange for shipping and crate, if necessary. Seller is willing to take bike to Sacramento, CA. for shipping via ForwardAir.com or other carrier of your choice, in Sacramento for $75.00 additional fee to cover our fuel and time.
