Vehicle Detail

This is a true 1967 Impala Super Sport with its original 275 hp, 327 engine with original camel hump heads, 4 bbl. quadrajet, and aluminum PowerGlide transmission, with 3.36 rearend ratio. It has all its original equipment. Even the engine numbers match the VIN. It has power steering, power brakes, and air conditioning. The a/c will work...I've used it before when I was driving it, but now it needs a recharge. This 67 Impala SS has a couple extra factory original features that make it a bit more special than your average 67. It has the factory TILT steering column which works great and is really nice. And it has the rare STRATO-BACK BENCH SEAT. The Strato-back bench was the only optional seat for the Super Sport. As you know, most Super Sports have bucket seats, so the Strato-back is very rare. I've posted a picture of the page in the 1967 Chevrolet Dealer brochure showing that the Strato-back was available on Super Sports. It's a fantastic seat! It has the bucket seat backs, which makes it sporty looking, and a large, fold-down center armrest for comfort. And you get to sit next to your girl (or guy, for the ladies), when you want to. Truly, the best seat offered in 1967 in my opinion. The seat adjuster works perfectly. With the tilt column and Strato-back, this car is very comfortable to drive. Frankly, I wish I didn't have to sell the car, due largely to its having those 2 original options on it. Another nice thing about this car is that it's stll mostly in original condition, so no one has redone it their way, or covered any problems up. You can see what you're getting, and you can do it your way, and not be paying more for work that you'll want to re-do anyway. It starts and runs great, with no smoking. It has surprisingly good power and handling for a car of this size. The brakes work well, and even the parking brake is functional, right down to the parking brake light on the dash. It's a dependable driver car. I've owned it for 10-1/2 years, and drove it a couple years as my daily driver. The original color of the car was Sierra Fawn. At some point in its past, it was repainted once, with a maroon looking color. It still has the original gold colored interior in it. As you can see, the old vinyl front seat upholstery has cracked and torn up. I put a blanket over the seat bottom to sit on. It would look great with new Strato-back vinyl upholstery, which is available from the restoration parts dealers. The rear seat is still mostly intact, with some splits in the seams. The door panels and side panels are still in pretty good condition. It needs a new headliner and dash pad. I have all the interior and dash trim moldings for the car. I restored the interior aluminum trims to new looking condition, and will put them back in the car in a couple days. It's never been smoked in when I've owned it. This is a great car to restore and you can drive it as you work on it. Mechanically it's good. Over the years, I've done some work to it to preserve the body. The roof and rear deck and tops of the quarters were beginning to show some surface rust through the old worn out paint, so I stripped those areas down to bare, clean metal and sprayed with PPG red oxide epoxy primer (DP74LF), which has protected the metal from rust ever since. So that's the reason you see that red oxide primer on the top surfaces for the body. I have the windshield and back glass stainless trim moldings, which I took off when I did the paint work, so they are all there. Overall, it's a solid body. The floors are solid, with no rust holes. There are some small holes in the trunk floor that would need patching up. The worst part of the body is that the driver side lower front quarter panel and the area around the left rear wheel opening has rust holes. So they will need to be cut out and patches welded in. It will need a few more patches in the bottoms of the doors and fenders, but nothing big. It's really a good body overall. These fastbacks are prone to rust around the back glass, but this one is not rusty there, which is a bonus. The doors open and close well. All the locks and keys work. All the lights work. The horns work. The windows roll up and down as they should, and have good fit. It has the factory Soft Ray tinted glass, which is all good, except for the windshield, which is cracked on the passenger side. I will give you a good used, uncracked, windshield with the car. The wipers work. The wheels are good looking 15x7 Chevy Rallys with spinners on the caps. The tires are Firestone Firehawks. The rear tires are in new condition, with practically no wear on them. The front ones still have about half their tread, so still some good life left in them. It's a road worthy car. You can drive it home. Fortunately, nearly everything you need to restore it to new looking condition is available in reproduction. The car will come with all its parts, except that it has no SS rocker moldings. Most Super Sports have lost their rocker moldings by now, and so most people just do without them. If you've looked at other SS's for sale, you'll notice most don't have them. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me and ask. I will be putting up some better photos on Sunday. I ran out of daylight today. I've priced it very reasonably for a good running, well equipped Super Sport, to encourage a fast sale. The car will come with a Bill of Sale from me, the owner and seller, only. In Georgia, titles are not required for cars of this age, and usually no longer exist. Please check with your state's requirements for paperwork before you buy. The car is located at my home in the Atlanta, GA area. If you live close enough to come by, just let me know and we can make arrangements for you to come see the car in person. For Payment, you would need to pay at least $1500 to my PayPal account immediately after buying. You may bring the balance in cash when you come to pick up the car. You may also pay the entire amount by PayPal all at once, if you wish, but it would have to be immediately after you buy please. No other forms of payment are accepted. I can hold the car for you for a month or two, but it must be completely paid for within 7 days of the time you buy. Thanks!
