Vehicle Detail
This car is being sold on behalf of a family member. It is located south of Bowling Green, KY near Franklin, KY. It will need to be trailered from its existing location after purchase. You are bidding on a 1955 Oldsmobile 98 Holiday 2 Door Hardtop. It came equipped with a V-8 324 rated at 202 horsepower and 332 torque with a Rochester 4-Barrel. The drive train appears to be the correct original set-up from new. It also features an automatic transmission, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Seat, Power Windows and trunk light. It was purchased in the early 1970s in Montana and driven to Southern Kentucky. It was last plated and registered in 1975. The majority of the major rust is in the rocker panels and floor pans. These are said to be similar to, if not exactly, 1955 Chevy parts, which are readily available as reproduction parts. It is missing the rear seat bottom and trunklid stainless. Of the 100,000-plus Olds 98s built in 1955, only 38,363 were 2-door Holiday Hardtops. Very few seem to exist today, and many of the high-performance engines found their way into hot rods and street rods. The motor in the car offered here has not been tested to see if it is locked up, but will surely need rebuilt either way. Factory Olds prices started at $2000 in 1955, and this example was one of the most expensive with a price tag of over $3,200 when new. The VIN tag is still attached to the door frame and a clear title is included with the purchase. The seller would prefer cash upon pick up. He may be able to deliver with a roll-off within a reasonable distance. A small reserve has been placed to protect his investment, but is very reasonable for a nearly complete parts car with a title. Any further questions concerning the car, payment or shipping should be directed to Shawn Bennett at 270-799-3168. Terms of Sale Private Auction The buyer will submit a $100 deposit via Paypal or Overnight Certified Check within 48 hours of the close of the auction to secure the vehicle. Buyer agrees to pay the remaining balance due directly to the seller/owner within 10 business days of the close of the auction. All financial transactions must be completed before removal of the vehicle. If deposit or balance is not received within time frame indicated, buyer will forfeit right to purchase, vehicle will be re-listed, and negative feedback will be left. Vehicle must be picked up no later than 30 days following end of auction (above payment terms must be met). A $10/day fee may be assessed if not picked up within the 30 days. We are always willing to work with the buyer. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs that may apply. We will assist in shipping car wherever possible, but will not deliver. If you cannot meet terms of auction, DO NOT BID! Ask any and all questions before bidding. We will answer as quickly as possible. There is no warranty with the car. It is being sold AS IS with a clear Indiana title. On Aug-31-11 at 05:20:53 PDT, seller added the following information: The seller has asked me to lower the RESERVE and the BUY IT NOW. The price is quite reasonable for what is included in this package. A person could salvage the engine and a few other things, scrap the car and make a profit. DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY! -Thanks!
