It has 87,172 original miles. It is originally forest green, and it was painted by an amateur back in the late 1960's or early 70's. This truck has had extensive mechanical work done by me, and some mild restoration work. The list of new parts is very long: All new brake system including turned drums, rebuilt master cylinder, new shoes and spring kits, new flex lines New P235 75 x 15 Goodyear Wrangler radials, new spare tire w/ all 5 rims painted gray (they are 6 lug 15" rims but not stock to truck and were on it when I found it) New gas tank, new flex fuel line under floor, new inline fuel filter in engine bay New shocks in rear, front shocks looked new when I found it Engine has new rings and new pistons (standard bore as cylinders did not need bored, just top ridge removed and honed w/ drill mount hone), new rod bearings, new wrist pins installed by machine shop, valve stems were machined and hand lapped in, head was stripped down and cleaned and reassembled w/ original cleaned up solid lifters and push rods (crank was NOT removed, so I don't know condition of main bearings but engine runs like a top) New head gasket, new engine gaskets as needed Rebuilt original water pump Boiled out original radiator and painted Rebuilt w/ new armature original generator and new regulator Rebuilt carb New ignition parts w/ cap, wires, points, rotor Painted engine tin and air filter and horn (installed dry element air filter from Napa) New glass all around except curved windows and back window (new rubber kit on wings and windshield) Doors taken all apart and new fuzzies installed, new window channel, lubed mechs, new door glue on weatherstrips New harness type seat belts New sunvisors, new chrome rear view mirror, new round side view mirror on original arm New repro floor mat which is now cracking in places Painted entire floor boards w/ Extendo Rust Encapsulator from Napa (leaves a black color on metal) New rubber brake pedal pads, starter bellows, and E brake cup rubber New tool box in bed which goes w/ truck, it is bolted thru bed now New arm rests, new door panels w/ new mount screws, new lower inside cab rubber strips (which lower door rubs on), new cab weatherstrips which go around opening of door in metal channel of cab New shifter boot w/ chrome bezel New knobs and dial face on radio (which was in truck and does work but station must be pretty strong to get clear) New 6v battery w/ new proper gauge cables from Napa, new battery hold down New hoses all around including gas neck hoses New repro 1937 GMC stainless hubcaps Truck had plates dated 1985 when I found it in fall 2007. I did most of the work 2 years ago and put about 2,000 miles on the truck since the work. Odometer does work. It runs great but top speed w/ original rear end is about 50 mph, you push it past that. I did not tear into clutch or trans or rear end, it all sounds smooth and shifts like a new truck. I did change all the fluids of course w/ new gear oil. The truck came w/ factory heater and radio, both work but the station needs to be strong to get good reception. The rear main seal on engine does seep oil, but not too bad. I do see some damp spots on drive shaft as it exits the trans, and on the rear pumpkin (these items have not been taken apart to my knowledge). If these things bother you, then this truck is not for you. My goal was to get it back on the road and not have break down troubles, and I did accomplish this goal. There may be a bit of faded paint on the roof and tops of rear fenders since the pics were taken about 3 months ago, the sun is working on the paint and some primer is showing thru now in some places (patina is a good thing, is it not?). Truck had some damage to cowl just in front of pass door which I have shown. There is a seam here that they painted over, like the metal was torn open for 5" and bodyworked back together. This truck was not restored, merely sprayed bright green w/ no dents fixed at all. It does have hail dents in the roof and on fenders and especially on the hood, and other places. It is NOT A RESTORED TRUCK, but a real fun "driver". The beauty of this truck is it's 100% rust free, and I have crawled over every inch, believe me. The floors inside had a rust color to them, only surface rust if anything. I wire brushed them clean and applied the NAPA coating as stated above, and re-seam sealed the metal. The truck was found inside a building w/ no windows on an eastern Colorado wheat farm, hence the preserved nature. I would drive this truck across the country now, but it may take you a long while at 45 to 50 mph, but what attention you would draw in this little jem ! The grill has some flaws in it where I tapped out some dings. I had to paint the side uprights silver as all the chrome was peeling on them. The hood rocket is original 1950's GMC , but the front down curved 4" piece got broken off. The wipers are new and work fine, but don't expect vacuum to be like modern ones. Heater blower works, but same story on being run out w/ heat...don't expect to be toasty at 25 degree outside temps. The seats have original vinyl (amazing in itself), but the driver area is coming apart as you can see. The lights all work, the vintage turn signals work fine and are wired into the small original signals on the front fenders. Dome light works, dash lights work but the speedo is stuck on 20 mph and the needle bounces and works but not too accurate. Typical of these old trucks, you won't be breaking land speed records anyway. The exhaust system is in great shape, no need to replace anything yet. The horn button logo in red is ORIGINAL. Dash paint is ORIGINAL. Wiper control and all knobs are ORIGINAL (except radio ones mentioned). The headliner is original and has one tiny hole in it about 3/4" long. The wood in the bed is original, but shows some cupping on a few boards. The inside of the box and back of cab was sprayed by me w/ John Deere green in the bomb can...it is of course fading now. This is a really fun truck to own....and being 100% RUST FREE is a big plus if you ever want to do some street rod conversion or put a real nice paint job on it.
