Vehicle Detail
Over all, this is a nice original early 80's muscle bike that pretty much needs someone with patience to finish fixing where I left off. You are bidding on a 1981 Suzuki GS 1100E. Bike has 13200 original miles. I decided to let it go since I have other bikes that need worked on. Paint is original and still maintains a nice shine. It does have some scratches nicks and dings throughout. Just had the carbs rebuilt and cleaned but you'll have to get them synced and pilot screws set. Engine starts right up and pulls hard through all gears. There is a slight stumble/hesitation right off idle but then it runs fine after that. I believe once you get the carbs synced and pilot air screws set that should eliminate the hesitation off idle. I know the valve clearances will need adjusted too. You can hear a very faint tapping coming from the valves which indicates the clearance needs closed in. I adjusted them this past weekend and set the gap too wide and I don't have the time to redo them because I need to get other bikes up and running that have been on the backburner for awhile. One of the bolts snapped on the valve cover as I was unscrewing it due to being weakened from rust. I realized that those valve covers had never been off the bike until I removed them the other day. If you're looking for a bike to get on and just ride with no maintenance then this isn't the kind of bike you want. With these old bikes you're always fixing something and valve clearances should be checked every 4000 miles. I just don't have the time to put in to this bike as I have others I want running. Oil and plugs were changed over the weekend. The tires will get you through the rest of the riding season but I would replace them for next year. They hold air and there are no weather cracks but they are over 20 years old. The front is about 75% and rear is about 50%. Mufflers shine up good. The right one will rattle at about 4500 rpm then stop beyond that. There is some shoe melt near the passenger side. Header pipes have some rust up near the intake. Both brakes were rebuilt but both reservoirs that hold the brake fluid have small leaks. Some of the brake fluid got onto the paint on the frame and under the fuel tank which caused some paint peel. The cam chain adjuster leaks oil every now and then and needs the gasket replaced. I just ordered the gasket and seals to fix it if I get the time otherwise the buyer will get them. The fuel tank just started dripping gas near the petcock. I have another petcock but again, if I don't have the time to fix it, it will go with the buyer. All electrics work, lights, brake lights, horn, turn signals, instrument dash. Charging system all works with no issues. Battery is one year old. Has new Dyna coils, plugs, and caps. New 630 O-Ring chain and both sprockets. Has new fork seals, new carb intake boots, new clutch springs and plates. I know I forgot a lot of other things that I fixed but I know that I spent over a $1000.00 in fixing and replacing things. Most of the other stuff are easy fixes. I've been riding the bike all summer and have put 3000 miles on it. If someone has the time you can really make this bike look good. I pretty much mentioned everything that needs attention. I want to be as honest with my description because I've bought bikes before on Ebay where the seller never mentioned the things wrong on their bike and only found out once I got it home. I lowered my reserve and buy-it-now to compensate for the additional cost and time that the winner will need to put in. I know I probably forgot other things I did to the bike so just email with any questions. Winning bidder will send a $250 deposit to my paypal account within 24 hours of winning auction. Balance is due in cash when you pick the bike up. If paying by check, the bike doesn't leave until funds clear. Cash in hand before any test rides just to cover myself in case you should put the bike down. I have a clear title in my name for an easy transition in to yours. Thanks and good luck.
