Vehicle Detail

OregonMTB Store No Reserve!!! 1981 Fiat Spider Turbo First things first--this is a former Turbo car--1 of 700 ever made by Fiat in conjunction with Legend Industries. The turbo was removed by the previous owner (as was fairly common). The turbo intake plenum is still there--but not the turbo nor the 2 turbo hoses. It was converted back to a normal fuel injected Spider. You can drive it as-is. Find a turbo (not too hard), the turbo hoses, and whatever else it may need and you will have one rare and valuable Spider. The car runs and drives fine. You could drive it tomorrow and work on restoring it as you like. It starts every time and idles smoothly. It has the desirable 14" 'turbo' alloy wheels. I have driven it around the neighborhood--but it has not gone much further than that in the last 5 years. It likely needs new tires, spark plugs, the brakes bled, an oil change, and a timing belt and tensioner bearing. None of that is very difficult. The car should have a good once over by a competent mechanic before you plan on taking it on any long trip. I can even have the timing belt and tensioner replaced for about $150 if the winning bidder so desires. Fiat parts are easy to come by via the Internet with parts suppliers in California, Texas, Colorado, Virginia, New Jersey and Ohio. Just ask and I can point you in the right direction. Cosmetically, the car is all there. It could use a freshening up and new paint would do wonders for it. I can even tell you where to get a new Turbo striping kit for it if you paint it. There is some light surface rust in a few spots--but this has been a California desert car most of its life--so it is pretty much free of rust. It is solid underneath. The top keeps the water out and is in decent shape. It you decide to get it painted--you will likely want a new top to go along with the shiny new paint. A new top can be had for under $200 if you install it (not too hard--about 4 hours for you and a friend). There is a hole in the middle of passenger seat--strange, I know. The best way to sum this Fiat up is that it is a running and driving project. The car has a regular clear California title. If you plan on registering it in California again--I believe there DMV fees due. If you are in any other of the great 49 states-don't worry about it. This car is being sold as-is with no warranties expressed or implied--remember this car had been in an accident at some point in its life. SHIPPING You can pick the car up in Medford, Oregon or have the car shipped at your expense. I am happy to arrange shipping (to the lower 48 states) and will guaranty shipping will not cost you more than the following on an open carrier if I arrange it for you: Anywhere on I-5 between Seattle and Los Angeles: $400.
