shauntiques Store 1987 Ford 5.0 Mustang Street Legal Track Car Road Race Auction for my 1987 LX 5.0 Mustang. I love the car been very good car for me and my wife the past 12 years. I don't have time to play with it or drive it any more. Some times I don't start it up or drive it for months at a time. It old faithful alway start up and alway gets me home. 5 years ago transformed it from a stock car to a street legal car that I can drive to track and do Track day events in. Has done a good job doing that. Here what I can remember it has on it. All the parts on the suspension I bought new and didn't use 2nd hand parts. Only part on the car's suspension is original is the rear end axle housing. suspension maybe has 3000-4000 miles on it( Auburn limit slip diff unit has 40k) . How it's set up work well, took many track days to dial it in. Front suspension Maximum Motorsports Caster Camber Plates Tokico Illumina adjustable shocks with coilover conversion (400 lbs springs) Steeda light weight sway bar Strut tower and k member braces stock K member Tubular A arms (I don't remember who made them. Grantelli maybe or MM) SN-95 spindles (the correct year was used so has stock Fox body Width) Maximum Motorsports Bump steer kit Steering rack is Manual quick ratio by Flaming River (no Power steering) Rear suspension Maximum Motorsports Panhard bar Maximum Motorsports Torque-arm (was professionally installed) Maximum Motorsports HD adjustable height lower control arms 2 rear sway bar at once , stock with steeda adjustable sway bar Maximum Motor sports springs Tokico Illumina adjustable Torque boxes and rear area near torque boxes professionally reinforced Auburn limited slip with 3.73 gears(limited slip bur out need rebuild) Carbon steel 28 spline axles Brakes Cobra 03-04 conversion with Brembo Rotors Hawk brake pads Front steel braided brake lines 93 Cobra brake master and booster Drivetrain Original engine 180k miles on it. Still runs strong not blowing smoke or oil, Estimate 200-210 whp. Does need new oil pan gasket and valve cover gasket. There old and leaking. Has Large oil cooler. Engine has 1.7 cobra roller rockers. 65mm throttle body. A/C delete. Drive pulleys. Ram air. Ford Racing Mass air conversion. The smog pumps on it and makes a lot noise but I use most the time smog eliminator . Car has high flow cats through Hedman step headers and 2.5 exhaust. The car pass California smog test. It runs cleaner then stock 1987 5.0. Trans T-5 shifts good. Stock type clutch, Has adjustable clutch cable. Chassis/ Body Solid car always been a California car so no wrought etc. Was painted and has some small dent fix 5 years ago. One step type paint. Look good. There one spot one hatch door there couple little rust dots. Car need a cleaning and waxing, has rubber marks from tires and other cars throwing R compound up. The front paint on front bumper little sand blast from other car on the track. Front hood is Carbon Fiber Has sub-frame connectors Has Stop power 4 point roll bar with belt brace and camera mount. Interior Has 2 Sparco seats. Drive has 5 point harness, passenger is a crappy 3 point(recommend changing to 5 point). Driver seat is fixed postion. You may need to put a slider mount for you. It is mount on the floor and seat is for skinny people. I'm skinny and tall so you may need a different seat. The passenger is on a slider and is wider so will fit larger people. Interior stripped out. Dash not been touched intached with gauges. Has console. There is a CD player with front speaker. Works not well. Wheels street wheel FR500 18X9 with Yokohama tires 275/35 18 (front advan and rear AVS). Lot tread left. To use these wheel you use long wheel nuts because lug nut been shorten to fit the spacers. Race wheels Aircraft aluminum Forged Fikse Aro 18x10 with 265/35 R Kumo R compound tires. The tires tread gone. You can drive on them but have no more track days left on them .I think I have 2 not been used tire storage that I would included. The bolt patter is 5x100 mm so had custom spacer made. Work out well. I picked up over 2 secs with these wheels and tires General info. The car is good. Has pro and cons. It Is time for some normal maintains that I haven't had time to do. The auburn Limited slip need to be rebuilt. Engine needs new oil pan and valve cover gaskets. The throttle on street and at low speed is sticking. Pedal feel like not moving smoothly. The cable maybe worn out. Car Exhaust is not load so it nice on the street. There no interior so it's load inside from road noise. Car has no power steering so it's a pain in parking lots. It nice on the track but hard for driving around in parking lots . I would recommend converting it to power steering . The engine is good but it's has a lot miles on it so person buying look in the future for new engine. The suspension was set up for 347 engine un mind but the stock engine been running so well. It is used car and car you will have to be hands on with. It have be very reliable in the past but need some maintains now. A good fun play around car. The car does drive , no problem. If you plan track it will need rebuild the limit slip and use the street tires or put new tires on the Race wheels.
