You are looking at a great 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Hardtop. This car will fill the bill for two kinds of potential buyers. The first is looking for a ‘driver’ or rat rod. It will take a matter of hours and a small amount of money to get this car up to streetable condition. The 2nd potential buyer is someone looking for a great candidate for a total restoration. Most all of the parts and pieces are there as you can see from the photos. The car is relatively straight and the rust issues are not serious. *** I recently put the car up in the air and took extensive pictures of the bottom of the car. I have attached four but have several more upon request. Overall, the bottom of the car is very solid. It will not need a floor pan or a trunk pan. The body to chassis supports are OK, but it appears that at least one would need to be replaced. The rocker panels inside and out will need to be replaced. This is not a matching numbers car, but a very example of classic Chevrolet products. It is equipped with a great running 350 Chevy V-8 engine with a four barrel carb hooked up to the original two speed automatic transmission. The car will start and run, but will need to be gone through in order to be ‘street-able’. It has been sitting indoors and will need some TLC to get back on the road. The brakes have been replaced, including brake lines and there is a new battery as are the tires, but a changing of fluids and a thorough check of all systems will be necessary to use on a regular basis. There are also new parts such as the muffler and both rear shocks. Most of the interior is original and while useful for some people, some will decide to replace all of it, but at least patterns and templates will be available.
