1978 International Scout II You are bidding on a wonderful survivor 1978 Scout II. This ONE OWNER vehicle was purchased with only 8 miles on the odometer and well taken care of since 1978. The always garaged Scout is in great shape with all original paint and interior! The Scout was built on May 25, 1978 with the bullet proof 304 V-8 engine coupled to an automatic transmission and 4 x 4 system that still operates just fine. The owner has done all of the maintenance from tune-ups to regular oil and filter changes every 3,000 miles. The transmission is the T-407 model coupled to a two-speed transfer case, hooked to a 307 RA 28 rear end. The factory equipment included the Scout top, deluxe exterior trim package, power steering and brakes, dual exhaust, Wedgewood interior color with full-width folding rear seat and storage box console. Note the relatively new exhaust system and rear shock absorbers. Owner also informs me that all of the brakes were replaced some 5,000 miles ago. The owner added a class III hitch with receiver that is ready to tow that small boat, jet ski, bar-b-que or whatever you had in mind. There are a few small dents and scratches on the vehicle along with a fair amount of rust around the rear wheel wells and rocker panels. If there are any minuses, they include: The hood release cable assembly is relatively new yet the knob does not stay on very well, leaving the owner to use a pair of vice grips to pull on the dash cable and the hood opens very easily. Note: The owner has obtained an appraisal by Super Scout Specialists authenticating the current value at $6,500. Look for this report among the pictures. The most important parts about this Scout is how great the interior has survived with brilliant colors and no rips or tears, great carpeting, headliner and how well this Scout runs and drives down the highway. The owners are reluctant to sell ‘the best car they’ve ever had’ but it’s time to move on to the next potential ‘great one’. BONUS: Included with this auction are four mounted snow tires on stock steel rims. One of which is the current spare.
