Vehicle Detail
PLEASE WAIT FOR THE 35 LARGE, DETAILED PHOTOS TO LOAD! Up for sale is my gorgeous 1929 Ford Model A Phaeton! This beauty was professionally ground-up restored in Denver, Colorado, approximately 15 years ago and was used regularly by the owner for wedding and special occasion transport. It was sold a few years later by Bert's Model A Center in Denver (great guys) to a fellow collector in North Carolina, who likewise used it for weddings, etc. He made over $400 a weekend doing weddings, but he retired and decided to move the car on - and I bought it. It's one of two Phaetons here in the local area (and the nicest one!) and is a hit in every parade and special event that I go to. My family loves this car...nothing better than packing the kids in the car and going on a parade...but unfortunately finances are forcing me to part with it. The body is in excellent condition, with no rust or corrosion that I've ever been able to see. There are a couple of tiny dings (visible in the photos) and some minor areas of chipped paint, but nothing that's a severe detraction. It's been in lots of shows and I've got the winning trophies to prove it! The thing I love is that the paint isn't perfect so I'm not afraid of taking it out for a drive (in fact, before my current job, I used to drive it almost daily!) It's not a concourse car, but looks darn good, and I can't tell you the number of waves, stares, and thumbs-up I get from driving this beauty around. This beauty has been mistaken for a limo, a Rolls Royce, you name it...it's a real stunner! In fact, when I'm out with our local club, this is the car that gets attention (sorry guys!) even though some of their cars are downright spectactular in their own right! The car runs very well. I had an earlier issue with the radiator, and I bought a brand new Brassworks high-performance radiator ($600) to replace it. I just recently replaced the cylinder head with a high-compression one. I also just installed a fully-rebuilt Zenith carbourator. Any gasket that I could replace while installing the high compression head I replaced, the fan belt is brand new, the hoses are brand new, the spark plugs are brand new, and I also installed an oil pressure and radiator temp gage in the cabin. I removed the original generator and replaced it with a 6V alternator. I will include the original generator with the car though. I've also installed seat-color matched seat belts (two in front, three in back) on the seats that tuck away when not in use. Auction listed mileage is not exact as I don't know when the odometer is installed, I imagine it was installed about 15 years ago. The top includes all of the sides for the foul weather set up (though I never drove it in the rain). It does have one fore-to-aft strap that needs to be restitched above the driver (I keep it wrapped around the bow so it's out of sight and out of mind). It also has the matching cover to put over the top when driving with the convertible top down. One really unusual aspect about this Phaeton is the fact that it's a six week model, which is really quite rare. Most of the time you'll find them without the spare tires, or with just one spare...but to have two is very unusual (in fact, even with all the Model As they've sold, Bert's was still able to remember the car because of the six wheels!) This is really a super car and I really am loathe to sell it. When I rebuilt my '29 Fordor, I used this car as the template of what-goes-where since it's just "right"! No bondo, no fillers, no thick paint...just a super, solid car that will last for another century to be certain! This car is for sale locally as well as on mafca.com (I am a member of the Model A Ford Club of America) so I reserve the right to end the auction early. I will seriously consider a part cash/trade offer for another restored Model A in the $9-$13 thousand dollar value range (preferably a good driving Tudor). A non-refundable down payment is due via PayPal within 24 hours of auction close. If you do not have PayPal, I can work other payment methods. Complete payment via certified check or in cash is due within 7 days of auction end, unless prior arrangements are made. I am not a dealer, but I have shipped cars both to destinations in the US and overseas over the years, and am happy to work with the vehicle shipper you select (I don't choose your shipper, too much of a personal choice!) I will include approximately $1000 worth of additional parts and books! This includes a spare Zenith carb, original manifold, intake, cylinder head, water pump with fan, distributors, coils, brand-new NUREX electronic ignition, and hundreds of other small parts, as well as all manuals, catalogs, special tools, etc. A great deal! In closing, this is a super vehicle that has nothing to hide - no cheap knock-off parts, no bondo patches - and is really like selling one of my kids. It's not a perfect concourse car, but it's a good driver and a real eye catcher. I would love to keep it, but other responsibilities sadly aren't allowing me to. The starting price is extremely reasonable and far less than market value; I have about $32K invested in the car. Please contact me via e-mail for any questions you may have and I'll be happy to answer them to the best of my ability. Thanks for reading and good luck!
