Vehicle Detail

You are looking at an original non molasted sample of a rare and classic american musle truck. It is Black on Black on black and very clean. The GMC Typhoon was a high-performance version of the GMC Jimmy Produced in 1992 and 1993, There were only 4697 produced both years. Typhoon featured a Mitsubishi TD06-17C/8 cm2 turbocharger and Garrett Water/Air intercooler attached to a 4.3 L LB4 V6 intake manifolds, fuel system, exhaust manifolds, and a 48mm twin-bore throttle body from the 5.7 L GM SmallBlock engine. Typhoon came with a GM 700R4 transmission (4L60) 4-speed automatic transmission out of a Corvette / Camaro and a BorgWarner 4472 transfer case splitting torque with 35% forward and 65% to the rear wheels. It featured all-wheel drive, upgraded brakes, and sport modifications to the standard suspensions. Typhoon featured an air-operated self-leveling rear suspension Output was officially 280 hp (209 kW) and 360 ft·lbf (488 N·m), but some stock Typhoons have been measured at over 300 hp (224 kW) on a dynamometer The Typhoon was capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds and could do a quarter-mile run in 14.1 seconds at 95 mph (153 km/h). Car and Driver was impressed, comparing the Syclone's performance favorably to the Ferrari 348ts, Chevrolet Corvette, and Nissan 300ZX Turbo, It was a bargain at US$29,970 when it was brand new. Typhoon was built for GMC by Production Automotive Services of Troy, Michigan Aside from a handful of prototypes, only 4,697 Typhoons were built by GMC: 2,497 in 1992, and 2,200 in 1993. Unlike regular production Syclones, Typhoons were offered in various color configurations that differed by year, with black/black being the most popular. You are viewing a 1992 GMC Typhoon. Vin # 1GDCT18Z8N0811089 It is in great condition! Interior looks like new with the exception of one little spot on the dash. Paint job has a high gloss black base coat clear coat. No rust issues; however, there is small hole on the plastic ground effect which can be seen in pic. It is about the size of a quarter. There are many new parts such as shocks, brakes, fuel pump, and gas tank. The transmission was recently rebuilt not long ago. All maintenance was done to the schedule. One look at this truck you will know it is all stock and is in good shape. Paint was done over as expected from a 1992 vehicle, Driving lights are now on the truck. Hood was upgraded with a Metal cowl hood this is a very expensive hood and is very well fit, this makes better breathing for the engine compartment allowing the air come out of the cowl. This is a metal hood (not a cheap fiberglass one). This makes the typhoon stand out from the rest with more of muscle car stance. This vehicle is all stock powertrain with exception of drop in K&N Filter. Even the stock air intake tube is still under the hood to keep this truck all original. Everything works, windows, door locks etc. I have some misc parts I bought and did not have a chance to install which will be included with the auction. There is a wealth of information regarding how to make these trucks faster and there are tons of parts available for these trucks. All you have to do is go on you tube and you will see many examples of these running 11s or 12s or easily 13 second quarter mile runs… all this from a truck that can handle too. Typhoon is now an instant classic and I truly believe from this point on it will only add to it’s value, this particular example will be rare to find as you can imagine more an more people are modifying these truck so finding a stock one is rare.
