1963 Datsun SPL310 1500 Fairlady 3-seat Roadster for sale. The previous owner completely restored the car and it had always been in California and rust free. It is a matching numbers car (engine #G75092 is original to this car) and it was correctly restored to original specifications. This is a very rare car as there are only a few left of the 1,977 produced in 1963. This is the first year these cars were sold and it is serial number 580. Actually, there are probably about 200 in the serial number sequence that were not used in 1963 so this car could be about the 400th SPL310 made. The first several hundred cars had a single carburetor but this is one of the first with dual carburetors, which gave this car much more power. It is very powerful and really a blast to drive. The previous owner spent over $15,000 on the restoration (new paint, new upholstery and top, all mechanically rebuilt including engine, etc.) The previous owner took the car completely apart and I can provide the new owner with a stack of photos of the car during the restoration. I put on new correct Michelin XAS wide white walls, which are correct for the period (these cost over $1000). The car even has the original Datsun AM radio (not working). I recently drove it to a car show at Saratoga, NY from Syracuse at 70-80 mph on the thruway and it performed perfectly.This was a 300 mile round trip. The car has a current New York State vehicle inspection. When the previous owner restored the car, he added an old Datsun oil pressure gauge (this car never had an oil pressure guage originally, only an idiot light. and inserted it where the map reading light should be. However, I have the map reading light in excellent condition and this goes with the car (see photo). The water temperature guage on the dash does not work but a modern water temperature guage has been installed under the dash. In addition, the previous owner installed a 1966 Datsun 1600 roadster top and top mechanism, which is much easier to use that the original type top. However, I do have the original top with the wooden top bow, which connects to the windshield in excellent condition as well as the original top metal bows and the hardware that this original top fits into and the small brackets on the rear deck (see photos of all these parts and these all go with the car). For some reason, the previous owner did not restore the quarter windows in the doors and there is some light surface rust on these but they could be re-plated easily. In addition, there are some scratches on the stainless steel trim in front of the trunk. I have been to literally hundreds of car shows and have never seen another car like this one. These 1500 roadsters rarely come up for sale and the vast majority of them have severe rust problems and are missing many parts which are virtually impossible to find. This car is ready to be enjoyed immediately , driven all the time and any new owner will be very proud of it. The car is very dependable. Car is located in Syracuse, New York and has a current New York State registration (title) in my name. As long as full payment is made, I can store the car at no charge for the buyer for a month or so but the car is the responsibility of the buyer after payment is made. I could assist a foreign buyer with connections to a U.S. port. Price is $14,900 and I have much more than this in the car. I will not accept Paypal for this transaction.
