Vehicle Detail

1988 Range Rover Classic. Modified by the owner of Columbia Rovers for his personal use. Started as a RUST FREE, black Range Rover Classic in need of some mechanical help and got a little carried away. Drivetrain: 1995 Discovery 1 3.9L V8, serpentine belt, driven freshly resealed with new head gaskets, timing cover gasket, timing chain, front and rear crank seals, etc. Higher compression and higher displacement than original 3.5 Stainless Steel NRP full exhaust Ceramic coated manifolds Matched ECU and MAF 1997 Discovery ZF4 automatic transmission and LT230Q transfer case Front and Rear axles, differentials, and hubs converted to Discovery 24 spline for added strength over original 10 spline configuration. Body: Permanently topless Doors, tub, body all gutted to save weight Roll cage welded directly to frame Bed lined tub Custom pre-runner style bumper with Hella 500 lights Custom rear bumper, welded to rear frame and welded to custom frame outriggers behind rear wheels to prevent flex Hand rolled fenders to increase wheel arch aperture Vented hood for improved airflow to air cleaner and slow speed heat dissipation Each unused circuit traced back to connector and eliminated (power windows, rear wiper, dome lights etc.) to cut down on weight and wiring clutter Critical electronics (fuel injection ECU, etc) relocated from under seats to high under dash Accessories/Modifications: 3” Old Man Emu springs and matched Rancho long travel shocks Stainless Steel extended length brake lines LWB front calipers and vented rotors 15”x9” steel wheels with 33”x12.5” 15 GoodYear Wrangler MTR’s Reinforced (sleeved) steering drag link Hella H4 headlamp conversion MOMO Monte Carlo steering wheel Flat 4 trailer wiring Hella Matador worklamp with IPF 3 position switch. Triggered by reverse gear and switch in rear tub. 2 marine grade constant hot accessory sockets in rear tub In line power steering cooler with custom hoses CB radio wired constant hot, built into dash with auxiliary speaker in lower dash console Optima Red Top battery AC eliminated (pump, lines, condenser, fan, controls, etc) Accessory fuse box for easy installation of auxiliary components Powder coated front shock towers, power steering pump bracket, AC bracket Recent Maintenance: Oil change Ignition wires and coil Pitman arm and 3 tie rod ends Front axle resealed and upgraded to One-Shot swivel grease Alignment Steering intermediate shaft bushing replaced Fuel pump and filter Steering box rebuilt New alternator New O2 sensors Rebuilt radiator The point of building this Classic was to create a fun, lightweight, and reliable summer rig. It’s remarkably quick and agile for its size and for being a Rover. Let’s face it, they are slow and bulky but this one is actually a blast to drive. It’s a work in progress, there is more to be done for the new owner but the mechanicals are already sorted out and it could be driven everyday just as it sits. Selling because we don't have room anymore to store it.
