Listed again as buyer fell through - 9 passenger 1973 Volkswagen Bus. If you are a purest this one is not for you, but if you are looking for a great driving, eye catching, thumbs up getting vehicle read on... I started my search for a bus to fix up over a year ago. I found this totally rust free “desert bus” located in Las Vegas it is currently showing 98,250 miles on the odometer. It had just been painted with all windows having been removed. It was assembled with all new rubber window, hatch and door trim. I recently had some simple pinstripe accents added to the paint - and all of the original factory decals - inside and out were replaced. Chrome “belt line” trim from a deluxe bus was added. The pancake motor was replaced with a 1600 dual port that had been recently rebuilt. I replaced the bumpers with new, dent and blemish free reproductions and installed Hella driving lights on the front bumper. I also installed a luggage rack, and one of the photos shows it with the rail - which is removed so the bus will fit in my garage. The original wheels were replaced with 17 inch “salt flat” style wheels and new tires. The front was lowered with 2” dropped spindles and the rear one click lower on the torsion bars. The suspension was gone through, replacing anything that was defective including a balljoint, tie-rods, steering damper, shocks, all CV joints and front and rear sway bars were added which made a huge difference in the handling. The engine remained stock, with the exception of an aluminum crank pulley, dual carb conversion and a stainless side exit exhaust. It has excellent oil pressure and does not run hot - even here in Fort Myers, Florida. The interior was completely replaced with the exception of the headliner - which was perfect. That included all new TMI seat covers, carpeting, door panels, grab straps, sunvisors and custom coco mats - front and rear. The bus also has full “jail bars” in the rear windows. All the windows (including the windshield) were just tinted with ceramic tint which claims to block 60% of the infra-red rays to help keep the bus cool inside. The steering wheel was replaced with a new 17” wheel, the radio replaced with a “retro sound” digital version, bamboo under dash shelves were added, and the gear shift was replaced with a EMPI trigger release shifter. I installed oil pressure and oil temperature gauges. The obligatory Hula dancer goes with the bus!! As I mentioned this is a great driving bus...I’ve taken it to several local car shows and people love it! Like all of the cars I sell - this is not a PROJECT.
