Vehicle Detail

2000 Ferrari 456 M GTA. Engine & Transmission swapped by master technician (Phil is awesome). Very reliable and won't break down on a cruise/rally. 29 Gallon gas tank is sweeeeet with this setup. [I'm working on a video, will post link] Beautiful car and cool stance (it's a very wide car, staggered wide-rear-wheels, 456's look even better in person), gets a lot of compliments and attention. Always garaged, no dents, no door dings. There's one scratch on the passenger door (pictured). I have the original window sticker $230,000.00 (that's the equivalent of $340K today). Car Stereo is tight and loud, Focal speakers, JBL amp in trunk, Kenwood head unit, again this is a sweeeeet cruiser. Clear title and history, passed California emissions no problem. 21" wheels, New Tires (Michelin Pilot Super Sports), I have both keys, original manuals and stack of all service records. New spare wheel+tire included (nicer-looking race-spoke wheel), plus an extra single front tire and an extra single rear tire (with decent tread). No tools included, except for the tow hook. I've owned this Ferrari for a couple years (I might be the 3rd owner since new), only selling because made room for an orange-ish car :) I just paid another $3k+ last week to make sure it was gone-through and reliable for the next owner. This is not a project car but a daily-driving, fully-running, fully functional, turn-key car with new tires, air conditioning, awesome stereo system, battery tender, ODB2 simplicity (meaning you can have it serviced at ANY shop-of-your-choice). You won't need a timing belt service for another 90,000 miles (yes you heard that right folks!). Ferrari was smart when building the 456 because it's basically a race-car chassis. Engine is now a 3.0-liter 2JZ inline-six on BMW V12 engine-mounts, transmission is an automatic transmission also out of a Lexus IS300. I've seen guys twin-turbo this setup to 1000HP+ (or drop in a Toyota Cressida drifting motor and blow-away newer supercars). Currently it's not the fastest sports car by any means (there's plenty of room to bump HP to your crazy likings), but for me I wanted a solid baseline to cruise around in. Also last week's service included AC recharge, hood struts replaced, front shocks replaced with rebuilt 456M's, rear shocks upgraded to 575M's from Eurospares (meaning you no longer have to deal with the "self-leveling" leaky-expensive-jankiness of the original setup). Also the inside door-handle clips were upgraded with custom-machined metal ones, all door handles work nicely (genius alternative to the goofy plastic clips shared with the F360/F550/F575 as they go bad often, to-the-tune-of a $1000 repair, but now you don't have to mess with it :) ). I've heard crazy stories about the auto-transmission originally in these 456's costing upwards of $28,000 to fix/replace. Additionally, the original engine would require a belt service every 4yrs costing upwards of $14,000 (because things pop-up like cam seals, valve guide adjustments, etc.). That said, my car will cost ~3% of that to perform similar repairs LOL! For the purists out there...I agree there's a beautiful example of a non-motor-swapped, pretty-blue 456 at Ferrari of Denver (please talk to homies Derek/Vaughan to purchase), it'll probably run you $100K+ (granted, it's gated shifter) and IMHO you must also consistently keep a $15,000 "reserve slosh fund" to confidently cruise without being stranded/scared-to-drive. Don't get me wrong, the one at FoD is totally worth it and I wouldn't hesitate to buy, but I needed an emotional-break after my F355 F1 cost $36K in maintenance over a 2-year period, and if that wasn't enough whippage-to-my-nadsticles...at the same time my Mondial 3.2 was in for belts & cam seals for another $10K (>_<)! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This section is where I'll add details/update any known issues:-There's one scratch on the passenger door shown in the pics.-Window moulding on driver&passenger side frayed/ripped-up over time (windows work, but the tight moulding toward the back of the windows getting shredded-up as they roll up&down, which is a common issue on 456's).-Windows don't roll all the way down (more like they roll 70%-of-the-way-down), not sure if other 456's are the same.-Has a battery tender, I recommend keeping it on a charger if not driving for a couple weeks, you can also disable battery via simply screw-switch connector located near the battery.-Engine never overheats, doesn't matter if you're stuck in deadlock traffic for hours, you'll be fine. Again, you can hop in this car and go run errands all day if you want.-Even though it easily passed California emissions test with this motor swap a couple years ago, I'm assuming it will pass your emissions just fine (no emission test required in my county). Original Ferrari exhaust.-I've spent $7K+ in the last 1000 miles getting the car to be daily drivable and reliable with very tight handling and super low maintenance costs.-Gas Gauge works until about 1/4 tank which means "near empty", so at a quarter tank you should go-get-gas. Huge gas tank with Toyota motor yeah baby! Btw I've only used premium gas, but premium is not required.-Check Engine light is not on and there's nothing wrong mechanically, BUT sometimes the check engine light will turn on and it simply needs to be reset by a standard ODB2 reader. My shop does this for me and doesn't know specifically why it comes on/no issues found.-Sport mode switch does nothing because it's essentially set to "medium" on the new reliable shock setup.-Trunk lid and Gas lid are operated by the factory pull cables (trunk cable is behind the driver's seat and gas door cable is in trunk) because the console switches don't work.-I have two Ferrari keys and key fobs, but fobs are not functional (the immobilizer was disabled many years ago for good reason as they were a hassle), meaning you must use the key to lock/unlock the door.-All dash gauges work (like speedo/tach/engine temp/pressure) but the 'transmission oil' gauge does not work because nothing to plug into.-The plastic that covers the gauge cluster has one crack.-The Horn switch on the wheel is disabled and rather relocated to a button underneath the steering wheel stock (oh Phil, my Brother haha).-Has rock chips on front of car, mostly on the bumper.-Interesting fun fact, if you like carbon fiber, the large hood on these 456's are made of carbon fiber and were the largest piece of carbon fiber on a consumer car at the time. DISCLAIMER:Vehicle sold AS IS. I've tried my best to describe the car accurately. Please check my feedback as a seller (perfect ebay'er since 2000) having bought and sold several high-priced cars/items on ebay. I can also recommend a good car transport/dispatcher (I like Montway). Payment by wire transfer is preferred, else would have to wait until check clears. Note that you're also covered by ebay buyer protection when in US/Canada.
