Vehicle Detail
Car is ready to be restored. This is the 22nd series (the rare earlier '49) Custom Eight Deluxe, I believe there were 5393 built. Comes with a rebuilt engine with the transmission and clutch already assembled and ready to go in. It is a very solid car with, from what I can see, only a few spots of rust through on the rockers. Has been in storage since 1959. Original engine is still in the car but the block is cracked. The rebuilt that comes with the car has the correct date coded block and is a 288. It is a project but it is very reasonably priced. Parts, including the trim parts are surprisingly easy to find and reasonably priced as well. I hate to sell it but we are moving across the country and I can't take all of my cars with me. Comes with a bill of sale. Cars were not titled back in '59 but ebay made me select "Clear title". ***Added*** I have learned a lot about this car from people who are interested in it. Apparently it is a "Custom 8" which was the top of the line in 49. The engine in the car is a 356. The block was cracked in what appears to be one spot but I understand that it may be salvageable. I have been putting mystery oil in the engine so as you can see, the plugs are out right now. The original engine is of course more powerful than the 288 I have that I purchased to go in it. I am not a Packard expert but have learned that being that this is the top of the line car it is certainly worth restoring. I really wish I didn't have to sell it because it has a lot of potential and I like the style. I am going to add some pictures. I again thank everyone for their input. If anyone has any questions please ask. Chris.
