Vehicle Detail

Known around the world as an unstoppable 4 x 4. This iconic Landcruiser BJ43 is very rare and was not originally offered for sale in this country. The stock 3B diesel was replaced with a Toyota 1HZ diesel engine and a 5 speed transmission was also added. The bonus here is the Fairey Overdrive unit. It adds a high and low to all of the 6 gears. It comes in really handy when driving on the highway. This BJ43 drives well and always starts right up. I use it to run around town and have not had any problems with it. The low end torque and low gearing allows you to literally crawl along at a snails pace should you desire. This is the last and probably the best of the 5 Landcruisers that I have owned. I acquired this Bj43 back in 2010 from a nice gentleman up in VT. He had completely rebuilt this BJ43 in 2007-2008. During my ownership It has always been garage kept and well maintained. Please see the specifications and pictures below. Make sure you check out the video link as well. 1977 Toyota BJ43No Rust. They are well known for their work and customizations on Landcruisers and other 4 x 4 vehicles. The video link is from 2009 and is for informational purposes only. I thought it would help highlight some of the unique features. On Dec-11-18 at 17:40:31 PST, seller added the following information: *Mileage is estimated to be approximately 6,400 since rebuild. It gets about 25 mpg. Oil just changed last week.On Dec-15-18 at 17:25:46 PST, seller added the following information: I have the following extra parts that go with the sale of the truck. 1 set of anti-inversion shackles that I sourced from MAF for the front. These match the ones installed currently on the rear. this will raise the front suspension up approximately 2 or so inches for a level stance.Exhaust manifold and gasket in case you want to remove the turbo charger. I considered doing this to prolong engine life. 1 transmission gasket set. there is an occasional drip now and then like most land cruisers. I purchased the gasket set to deal with any tranny issues should they arise down the road. 1 valve cover gasket I have also and goes with the truck. The truck drives well and straight. It cruises best between 45-50 mph. it goes well on the highway but I really don't drive it that way, just mainly around town and on the local roads where the speed limits range from 25-50 mph. Rust- None here. Frame and body were blasted by the PO. There may be some mild surface rust on the fame but I cant see it. No rust on the body at all. No body work needed. This is the main reason I purchased this BJ43. I hate body and frame work and this did not need it. A clean slate to work with. The electric fan has a thermostat screw that can be adjusted. 1 HZ engine and repair manuals that I have go with the truckInspections welcome or if you would like to send a mechanic service that's OK too. they run about $300 or so last time I used one to check out a care for me.This is not a show car, its a really nice driver. there are some scratches and nicks here and there as you would expect.Frame picture is from resto in 2007-2008. Carpet is in like new condition. Seats are in very good condition as well. remember all was purchased new by the POI have receipts on this rebuild totaling $79K spent by the PO. Projects I thought about doing to the truckAt some point I was going to replace the front shackles and I always wondered about removing the turbo and would it really make a difference. I also considered installing a new stereo that had Bluetooth although there is absolutely nothing wrong the Kenwood system that is currently installed. I also considered installing and Ididit adjustable steering column to bring this thing into the 21st century. Not needed, but would be nice.I considered installing an exhaust temp gauge. With this you can really adjust the injection system to perfection.
