Vehicle Detail
Here's the latest build from VULTURE MOTOR WORKS, a frame-off resto-mod bobber. This bike has approximately 50,000 miles, matching engine & frame numbers, and a clear Massachusetts title. She's been lovingly refurbished from wheel to wheel, including the following services, upgrades, and modifications: • Engine disassembled to the crank, cleaned & inspected, top end de-carboned; reassembled with new gaskets, seals, o-rings, fluids, filters, etc. (ask for a list) • Original flat-top 32mm Bing CV carbs rebuilt with new o-rings, diaphragms, etc. • Wheels upgraded to snowflake mags (from a 1981 R100RT); bearings cleaned and re-packed • Front fork upgraded to accommodate dual two-piston Brembo calipers with stainless-steel braided lines (from the RT; vastly superior the original single one-piston ATE) • Master cylinder upgraded to the superior handlebar mount (with older-style brake lever that matches clutch) • Final drive updated to accommodate rear disc brake setup • New Avon RoadRider front and rear tires for properly grippy performance (no "fashionable" retro tread!) • Original side stand & center stand (with intact tab!) • Steiger seat from '60s /2 bike (mounted on struts cut from the original subframe, using the original ultra-hard 12.9 bolts) • Heel-toe shifter (from the RT) • Magura handlebar with new Domino grips & bar-end signals • New Yuasa AGM battery I omitted the gauges, but I left the primary wiring harness 100% intact in case you want me to re-install the original instruments for you. Why? Some people really love them! Other folks, not so much. If you prefer, I can install your choice of aftermarket speedo in a few days, at cost (with no labor charge). I've installed several from Motogadget, Koso, Trail Tech and more, so I'm familiar with their (ahem) idiosyncrasies. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but I'll add more details, videos, etc. later this week. Pretty much every square inch of this bike has been cleaned and/or stripped, then polished and/or painted. I've built dozens of Airhead R-bikes (plus a few Ks & Oilheads), so I'm extremely familiar with how they come apart and fit together. I bought my first R75/5 in 1991 and never looked back. Any questions? Just ask! I'm easy to work with. Check my feedback. I will gladly coordinate with your choice of shipper (you should see a UShip estimator below). In-person inspections are welcome during the weekend of September 8th-9th prior to auction close. Please please please have your funds in order before you bid! I actually do need to get paid in full in a timely fashion. Thanks! On Sep-05-18 at 18:58:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Okay! Lots of excellent questions, thanks! Several duplicates, so I'll see if I can answer them in one go... Fenders: yes! I can add fenders fairly easily. The front could be a stock unit (which I have on hand), either full-length or cut down. Message me for a pic of mine I did for a similar bike. Front fender I can do for free. Unless you want something other than stock, like maybe a nice Motone polished aluminum unit? They're like $150. No charge for installation. Again, ask me for a pic. Rear fender could either be a cut-down stock unit mounted to the frame, with the taillight & license plate bracket relocated to the fender, or it could be a thinner unit, mounted low, hugging the rear tire, leaving the light/plate where it is now. Rear fender would take some time to do it right, so I might have to charge a small fee for that. Turn signals: yes! The bar-end signals work fine, but if you would prefer individual front and rear-facing LEDs I can do that fairly quickly, at cost (no labor charge). I have some compact chrome units on hand, or could install your choice of signals...as long as they aren't ugly! Of course, if you have specific lens size or lumen requirements for your State (or Province), let me know and I will gladly accommodate (with perhaps a minor complaint, if they actually need to be stupidly huge. Looking at you, Quebec). Warning (aka dash or "idiot") lights: yes, easy. If you want the stock speedo back on, they are built in. If you want an aftermarket unit (like MotoGadget or Koso), they usually have everything built in (neutral, high beam, turn signal, oil pressure) except for the generator/battery light, which is part of the charging circuit on these and other silly German vehicles. I usually do a supplementary red LED mounted in the top triple clamp or headlight bucket, your choice. Right now I have one wired in just below the tank (by the air scoop) so you can check it at a glance on startup to confirm positive charging. Seals: I pulled the clutch stack to clean it up and measure the friction plate, which was better than maximum spec, so apparently the prior owner replaced it shortly before parking the bike. The rear main seal was A-OK, so I left it alone. The oil pump o-ring was, as usual, shrunken and hardened, thus weeping oil, so I replaced that. Plus: timing chest gasket, crankcase breather gaskets, pushrod tube seals, con rod bolts, head gaskets, valve cover gaskets, oil filter w/ o-ring, shim & gasket (per .000 measurement), air filter, fuel filters/lines, and...something else I'm sure, but it's bedtime. More questions? Fire away! On Sep-07-18 at 16:11:56 PDT, seller added the following information: Okay, I'm going to attempt to add a couple of videos here. Our benevolent eBay overlords keep changing the parameters of what can or cannot be embedded using this or that code, so hopefully this won't break the listing completely. The so-called revisions preview just shows the HTML code as if it were descriptive text, so who knows? If that's what you see, stand by for another attempt........On Sep-07-18 at 16:13:02 PDT, seller added the following information:
