I recently acquired this 4Runner and had plans to make it my off road rig, but my gx470 has now taken on that role. The engine and driveline are very solid; starts runs and drives well. Timing belt, water pump and idle pully done with in last 6 month and the transmission was gone over. Strong clutch, shifts very nice. The body isn’t bad, has some bumps and bruises and it has a bed liner paint job. Being an AZ truck, oddly there is a small rust hole in the rocker at the rear driver side, otherwise it is rust free. The interior is rough but intact for the most part. Needs a new passenger side cv joint and an idle control (idles around 500 rpm) it’ll never win a beauty contest but it’s a solid truck. With the cv joint replaced I wouldn’t hesitate to take it anywhere. The v6 pulls strong, everyone loves the 4cyl but I’d rather this v6. I know they had head gasket issues, but I think that was prior to 89. I was told the head gasket has been replaced on this vehicle. With this mileage though, either it was replaced or isn’t an issue.
