Vehicle Detail

Early 80s BMW enthusiasts have the most taste of any class of car lover. You and I know the magic these cars hold on the imagination and when one of these comes on the market I have to imagine that you're the type of person who would take the opportunity to own one of what is quickly becoming the rarest BMW, and the next classic car. - a chance to own a car that once fixed up can sell for upwards of $40-50k.- will become the next "classic" car. They are becoming rarer and rarer in the US, most of them are being shipped to Europe, and are becoming harder and harder to find. - parts are readily available from after market suppliers- Dry climate car, reasonably priced.- Clean CarFax- all original and comes w/ the dealer upgraded wheels that are worth as much as the car. - starts fine and is driveable. I drove it regularly for about a year before deciding to restore it. - car is in "needs to be restored condition". It runs and is driveable but it needs to be restored mechanically and aesthetically to be considered show worthy.- classic beemer Henna Red (Hennarot) - Everything on the car is original except for replacement engine parts like the radiator. - The odometer works off on. Instrument cluster gears need to be replaced again. There are approximately 120,000 miles on the car. - some electrical issues, turn signals don't always work, windows don't currently open, sunroof doesn't currently open, dash is cracked (this happens to all original early 80s beemers), rear seats are almost like new, front passenger seat is in good shape, driver seat has a small tear (see photos), instrument cluster needs new gears, radio needs security code to work, several other small issues like the radio mast won't currently go up. - registration is current in California, but under Planned Non Operation- I have a BMW toolkit for the car that I will throw in if it sells for over $2750.00- does AC work? No, but the fans blow and my mechanic is saying it can be recharged. - what general condition is the car in? It's in OK shape for its age (over 35 years) but has never been painted or restored in any way, so make sure you look at the photos. The car is priced accordingly for its condition and what needs to be done with it. It will eventually need to be painted. - how are the electronics? Some of them work, some don't. The whole car needs to be gone through and the wiring checked and fixed where needed. I've started this process but there's plenty of trouble shooting to do. - is the car driveable? Yes, it's driveable. It starts up and runs. The brake lights are working and turn signals usually work. The brakes work and the e-break works. - What's been done on the car? Plugs, radiator, hoses, alternator, distributor, the computers have been changed out, much of the engine electric system has been gone through and put into working order. - Does radio work? It turns on but needs the radio code from the dealer. Radio mast is new but won't go up, probably because of the radio code.
