Vehicle Detail

(I reserve the right to end this listing early) It's time to let my little princess go... I'm the second owner of this Arizona-only car. The previous owner named her Fergie, but I felt Princess Di was more appropriate! :) Local pickup only. She's in good condition, but needs a little work before running her again. I think some engine tuning, fuel system cleaning, replace the o-rings for the rear axles, and a set of tires is what it would take to get her back on the road. I stopped driving her when she failed AZ emissions back in 2004. I think the original problem was fixed when I took it to a Lotus-certified technician (he found a burr in one of the valves), but when I got it back, it ran really rough. I found a cracked spark plug insulator, and then the turbo apparently flew apart and gutted the original catalytic converter before I could get it test for emissions again. I sent the turbo off for a rebuild and bought a new cat. Once everything was back together, it barely failed emissions. That's when I re-plumbed the vacuum lines and made things worse, and that's where I left off. I think emissions are no longer an issue in AZ as it's considered a classic or collectible now, or something like that, and you can get an exemption. I just haven't had the time to spend on her. I think the new catalytic converter may have been why it didn't pass emissions, I don't know for sure, but it may be undersized (it's not a factory original). The other problem that needs to be fixed are the rear axle o-rings. The driver side had a slow leak...it took years before it finally stopped, probably because it finally ran out of fluid. :) Besides the fuel system, there may be other things that need to be tended to on a car that's been sitting for 10+ years...maybe just some fluid flushes. She's been stored in my garage for nearly 11 years now, with only the occasional rolling out to the driveway to give her a bath. The last time I turned the engine over and driven was late 2007 and she ran great! Here is what I know:The black, lower air dam is a bit damaged, but still in placeHas plenty of paint chips on the nose, see the pic of the front passenger corner to get an idea. Most of the paint is pristine. I have a set of 4 shop manuals plus the original owner's manual. There's a slow leak, probably an O-ring, on the driver side axle where it enters the differential. She stopped leaking years ago, so the fluid is probably drained. The driver's seat has some tears in it...the big one shows in the photos, and some of the piping nearest the door is torn.I put a new battery in and tested the headlamp pods, power windows, power locks and windshield wiper, all work fine. I wired a jack into the dome light for a Valentine One radar detector, so it's prewired. It has the factory engine ECU EPROM installed, but I also have the upgraded EPROM (included) that fixes the 2.5K RPM stall (it works great!).It has a BOV for improved acceleration. The turbo was rebuilt and a new catalytic converter was installed just a couple hundred miles or so prior to storage. The air line that connects the necks of the gas tanks needs to be glued in place or some brackets made...they droop a bit and you can see them through the rear-side windows. The first thing I did after purchasing the car was replace that air line (there was a strong smell of fuel inside the car...a common problem with Esprits). The spare tire has never been used, as far as I can tell (I never used it).I installed an Alpine stereo w/CD player (CDA-9855) prior to storage. I'll include the original JVC stereo that came with it when I purchased it (I think it is the original factory stereo).I think the timing belt should be replaced, just to be on the safe side. It feels fine though and was replaced as part of the C-service on 5/12/2003 (as were all belts). Lotus C-service was performed at 37K miles by Lotus of Scottsdale.I added a PVC tee to the A/C air hose in the passenger foot well to satisfy the wife. :)The EGR valve rattled annoyingly, so I gutted it (removed the butterfly valve inside) and removed the vacuum pull-off valve that actuated it (I still have it).The previous owner had removed the rather large panel that goes under the engine/transmission compartment. I have it, but never installed it.The tires have most of the tread on them, I purchased a new set around 2003/2004, and stored in a very low humidity environment. They also have flat spots from sitting in one place for so long...I'm not sure they will come out.Has the original toolkit and jack that came with it.The tanks had about 1/8 in them when stored, so a bit of fuel line/system cleaning might be necessary. The power windows and locks still work, as do the headlamp pods and stereo (a quick electrical check after installing the new battery).I think a light is missing in the console...there's a connector with nothing connected to it next to the fuel-tank button. The A/C was nice and cold the last time I used it.The leather boots around the parking brake and shifter are worn. The edging around the carpet in the boot is pretty worn/frayed, and the carpet needs to be re-glued. I almost did it, but thought the buyer might want to just replace it. Summary of what's included in addition to the car: :)the 4 shop manualsupgraded engine EPROMoriginal owner's manualJVC stereo and box/manual for the Alpine stereo Rockford Fosgate amplifier, subwoofer & box (I never got around to installing, but it should fit in the bonnet in place of the spare tire) Lotus toolkit and jackSunroof storage coverWindscreen (put in place of the sunroof when removed) box of assorted parts and tools, and whatever else I can finda magazine that featured the S4S back when they were newoh, and the keys! :)
