Vehicle Detail
I am selling this 1986 951, Recently had a lot of work done refreshing the car to get it up to par. I bought it with the intention to finish restoring it but time became a rare asset.Previous owner bought the car from Wisconsin, took it to Georgia and had a good amount of work done on it (see below). He ran out of funds to complete restoring, so I took it off his hands to do it myself. In the meantime I relocated for work and never had the chance to work on it. This is basically a "my loss your gain" post. VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE FUCHS WHEELS ANYMORE. ORIGINAL PHONE DIALS WILL BE PROVIDED. Positive:Brand New Koni Adjustable Struts & Shocks installed 2016.Brand New Water Pump & Both Thermostats replaced.New timing belt & Balance shaft belt w/ rollers.New Front Seals and Crank Gear.New Bosch Spark PlugsNew FTE Clutch SlaveNew Alternator BeltBrand New Bosch StarterNew coolant hosesFresh Porsche A40 CoolantBrand new Castrol 600 Brake Fluid flushed throughBrand New Shifter BushingFresh Oil Service with RedLine 20W50 Synthetic OilBrand New Billet Recirc Valve & Intake and Vacuum HosesInstalled a used factory Wastegate, currently has a screamer pipe on the wastegate. Sounds amazing under boost.Porsche script door handlesHas polished boost pipes and cam cover to match machined look.Car pulls very hard under boost. Like a freight train. Negative:Currently has a salvage title (Was rebuilt & registered in WI prior to me. I have no information on the accident. Just that it was hit in the rear. Undercarriage looks fine upon my inspection but a rear quarter and front hood was sourced for the car. As I mentioned, I planned to restore the car. I received the original title from the seller in Georgia. He had bought the car in Wisconsin. As the Georgia guy never titled the car on his name, I am not being able to title it on my name. So what I will provide the seller is the original Wisconsin title assigned to the fellow from Georgia, and all the bill of sale and receipts to my name. I recently found the prior Wisconsin owner and he said he would provide a duplicate title to me. Still didn't receive it as of today. Repair paint is sub par but it gets you by.The car is pushing coolant out after it shuts off. Oil and coolant are not mixing. I believe the engine is putting combustion into the coolant. It doensn't have any intermix so there is no chocolate milk in either system. If you run the car for a while it will eventually start pushing coolant out of the overflow hose. We believe it's coming from combustion leaking from the cylinders into a cooling jacket. As pretty much every other part of the coolant system has been replaced, the main suspect is a head gasket failure.Recommend new Brakes(Rotors & pads) Front & RearDoes not have power steering (Pump is not there but Power rack is there.) Sunroof does not work, PO sealed it shut. I'm not a Sunroof kind of guy so it never bothered me.Previous PO has welded a DC Sports muffler to a Thrust Muffler. ( I found this out when I got it in person).A/C Blows but is warm. (I charged with a proper A/C system but still no good).Interior quality is sub par. Dash is cracked and so are the seats.Hatch seals are leaking so when it sat outside under rain one could see water accumulation on the back footwell.Odometer does not work.Tachometer has acted weird after I did all the work to the car. Was working fine and now intermediately works.Recommend control arm rebuild in the future.Recommend a new expansion tank. Summary:Mechanical strong car with some issues to be addressed. Most of the major work was done for you. You're welcome to have the work evaluated by someone else. Asking 2000 to start auction. That's easily 1/2 the value of the adjustable suspension, transmission etc. if one elects to part the car out. Car is located in Naperville, IL and must be picked up. Car drives, steers and brakes so it can be driven onto a carrier. Needless to say the car will be sold as is with no warranty or returns. I am working on getting the title situation cleared out, but please consider that this may not be possible. I do have originals of all chain of ownership up to me. Makes a good donor for a track build or someone who doesn't mind doing some work themselves. On Jun-06-18 at 09:49:51 PDT, seller added the following information: TITLE SITUATION HAS BEEN RESOLVED, I CAN PROVIDE A TRANSFERABLE TITLE IN THE NAME OF THE BUYER.
