Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 2002 Jaguar X-Type Sport that I have loved and cared for since buying it new 16 years ago. It has 153,588 miles, and is only for sale because I just bought a new Jaguar. Introduced in 2001 and discontinued in 2009, the X-Type has a loyal following, and the black on black is one of the most desired color combinations. The 2.5 L double overhead cam (DOHC) 24 valve V-6 engine is perfectly matched for the vehicle, the 5-speed manual transmission is very rare (and was discontinued in North America two years later), and the speed-sensitive steering really create an exceptional handling package. Built in Coventry, England, the X-Type was the first all-wheel drive Jaguar, and this car never once got stuck in the snow, including its climb up my very steep and usually icy driveway. The Jaguar all-wheel drive favors the rear wheels during normal driving, for better handling; however, the viscous AWD kicks in seamlessly when needed. This car is very clean inside and out, with no tears in the all-leather seating (both front and back), and it just has that uniquely Jaguar look and feel, including the birds eye maple interior trim. Being the sport edition, this X-Type has all-black trim instead of the chrome trim that came on the base models. It has Continental low profile tires (2 brand new!), mounted on alloy wheels, including the full-sized spare tire hidden in the trunk! The engine still runs strong, the car handles beautifully, and I have consistently gotten about 32 MPG on the highway, where the car likes to be driven fast. The car has keyless entry, power seats, power door locks, heated front seats, front and rear fog/driving lights, automatic wipers, rear window and mirror defrosters, power sunroof, and 6 airbags. On the downside, the car requires premium (92 octane or higher) fuel, has the frame rust that is characteristic of this model when driven on salty northern roads, some surface rust, a small but persistent oil drip that hits the exhaust manifold, and the rear backup sensors need to be serviced.
